Hey, I saw something in another post that made me think of this...
Do you all plan on stopping at every table to say hello and all that? I don't plan to, I plan to be at my cocktail hour to get all the 'hello's' over with. I don't mean to be rude, but I don't want to spend my night talking to everyone and missing all the fun! I want to enjoy my wedding and dance and have a great time, I don't want to look up at the time and realize that it is nearly over when I was too busy talking to everyone.
Do you think this is rude and people will be offended? Well lets face it, I am sure certain people will be offended, you can't please everyone..but how do you feel?

Re: Greeting tables??
Well if your going to be at your cocktail hr to greet everyone it shouldn't be a problem. I am going to go to each table. I already told my FH that we are allowed on the max of about 2 min per table cause I don't want to be doing that all night either. I want everyone to have a good time. and it only take a few min to say hello.

Re: Greeting tables??
We are planning to greet as many people as we can at the cocktail hour. Those we don't get to at the cocktail hour will be greeted at the reception. I always think it's such a nice gesture when the bride and groom go around to the tables.

We definitely plan to meet and greet as many people as we can during the cocktail hour! I want to see all of my guests but still have time to dance and relax and stuff!

I plan on doing the same thing and I don't think it is rude at all. If there is anyone you know you missed at the CH just make sure to go over to them at the reception. I went to a wedding over the summer where the bride and groom greeted during the CH and not during the recpetion. I didn't get offended at all and they had a blast dancing at their wedding.

Re: Greeting tables??
i agree with the previous poster about the CH. if you're going to be around for that, i think you'll be able to cover most, if not all, of your 'hello's'
my co-worker got married in feb 06 and she was around for her CH. she got in a lot of her hello's in at that time. as a guest, i thought it was great to see her enjoying her party.
it also depends on how many guests. i had a small wedding: about 70pp, i did not go to the tables. everyone had a chance to mingle with us during all the 'events'.
so, to answer your question.... i think that if you're participating in your CH, you'll be ok to skip the tables. and you're right, there will ALWAYS be someone who gets offended, no matter what you do.
btw, i do miss the dolphin

Re: Greeting tables??
I don't plan on going table to table, we have a lot of guests and it would take awhile to get to each table.
I'm making a special point though to hit the tables that have relatives, especially older ones.

Re: Greeting tables??
I plan on attending my CH so hopefully we'll get most of our hello's then. Otherwise, I will try to say hello during the reception. I'm having a small wedding between 80 - 100 guests so I think I'll be alright.

Re: Greeting tables??
I was just a wedding this past weekend and this is what happened. The bride and groom had their CH first and so didn't come out. Then the ceremony and then the reception. They danced all night and whoever wanted to come over and say 'hello' was able to do so. I'm probably going to do the same....but may reconsider and stop by each table for a few.

Re: Greeting tables??
I really do not want to attend to CH hour, but FH does. He has the same arguement. I kind of see his point, but I would perfer to not go to CH only because I want to make my appearance at the Reception, but will probably go to CH also.

Re: Greeting tables??
With the receiving line and attending our Cocktail Hour there weren't too many guests that we didn't greet. Whichever ones we missed, we hit up right after dinner...

Re: Greeting tables??
possible receiving line into the ch and then doing hello's and thank you for attending at ch. I attend to be at my full cocktail hour since we are doing all pictures prior to ceremony.

Re: Greeting tables??
when do you go around to each table to greet everyone?
What is people are not sitting at the tables because they are dancing? than what? Do you greet them while everyone is eating, that way you know for sure that everyone will be at their tables?
Im confused about when exactly during the reception you would go around greeting everyone.

well both of our families are pretty traditional italian families so here is what usually goes on at weddings in my family
the b&g eat a little earlier than everyone else since they are served first, then they go around to each table while everyone is eating since this is when most people will be sitting ( as opposed to when there is dance music on) if someone is missing then it is pretty much his or her responsibility to come find you ( unless you can remember who it is and then you can search them out later. . . ) this is the part where you thank everyone for coming and also when people give you their envelopes or gifts. . .
i am attending my CH ( my favorite part!) BUT i will also be going around to all the tables, i have never been to a wedding where the b&g DIDN'T do this . . . and i know MY family would be EXTREMELY offended if they went to a wedding and the B&G didn't come to the tables. . . so i couldnt get away with that, lol
i guess if your family is more casual then you dont have to do it BUT I would feel horrible if i didnt thank someone for coming! it stinks that it takes up such a large part of the wedding but for me it is a necessity! and people USUALLY are good about it and let you say 'thank you for coming, have a great time' and move on!!

Re: Greeting tables??
Thanks gals, I think I will attend CH, make most of my 'chit chat' on the receiving line and CH, then just go to a immediate family and if I have missed anyone.

Re: Greeting tables??
i'm a bit of a traditionalist, so I plan on going around to each table. we'll make it brief, but I think its important to give everyone a few minutes of your time when they took the day out for you and are also giving you gifts. most weddings i've been to the newlyweds have done this & also have had plenty of time for dancing & having fun.

I totally agree! The and are typically served first, so even though we made the rounds at the CH, we went from table to table to say a brief hello, thank you, etc. when we finished eating. I had trouble sitting still anyway! I recently attended a wedding with my parents and although the wedding was gorgeous, the only thing my parents said was that they could not believe that the and did not stop by their table. The older folks appreciate it, and you won't miss a beat!

Re: Greeting tables??
Honestly... this was my plan as well - but you won't have enough time to say hello to everyone during the CH. I tried - and failed miserably!
