Re: groom cake?

I am looking into getting one for my Fh to give to him at the rehearsal dinner. There was a post on here a week or so ago about what the meaning of it is..I will try to find it. I am just doing this for my FH as a nice gesture.. a surprise for him.

Re: groom cake?

a groom cake is usually the brides gift to the groom - and its a cake thats made to look like one of your FH's hobbies (ex: baseball hat, shea stadium, yankee stadium, football, etc.)

It is usually given to the FH at the RD or is an additional cake at the wedding - whichever you like

I will look for examples of cakes for you

Re: groom cake?

It is primarily a Southern tradition, and it would be cut at the reception, put into little boxes and given to the single women in attendance. The story goes that the single ladies would put it under their pillows, and dream of their future husband. As was said before, it usually also represents something the groom enjoys, or is some form of fruit cake. I am thinking of getting one that looks like the Ironman logo, since my FH does triathalons. I think its is sweet idea....BUT KEEP IT A SURPRISE!!!

Re: groom cake?

Thanks! I love this idea! FI loves surfing, so I am going to see if I can find a place that will design a cake to go along with this theme.
