Ok this is the groom, my lady always goes on this site for help so i figured id try it. today is the day! im running all over the place but i still have a problem no one seems to know the answer to.
Our church asked for a decent sized donation for our wedding, do we still tip the officiant??

Do you know him personally? If so, I would buy him a gift. They’re not supposed to accept money anyway – unless it is for charity.

yes he is a friend of the family. the asked for a donation which we gave already of $250

At Pre-Cana, our pastor came and said that it was not necessary to tip the cantor or musician, since the donation covered their fees. He also said it was unnecessary to tip the priest, but might be nice to give the altar servers (if you have them) a few bucks if you feel so inclined.
Our priest was also a friend, so I did give him a gift. If we had someone from the parish, I probably wouldn't have.

or, you can buy him a gift certificate to a restaurant.
