Re: Grooms Cake

Having a grooms cake is a southern thing, that has obviously moved beyond the south.

I don't feel the need for the expense, and I don't think FH knows they exist, so we're going to go without.

I am planning on getting my FH a grooms cake. A friend of mine did it and her husband loved it. My FH has been making jokes about how he wants carvel ice cream cake at our wedding, so that is what I will give him. Maybe one shaped like a football (he loves football) or a Quad (also a favorite of his). I think they are cute!!!

I did one at my RD. Our guests and DH loved it. Alot of '04 girls did them at their RD's that's how I found about it and liked the idea.

Re: Grooms Cake

I was thinking of doing one but put it on teh back burner the ones from the Cake Boutique are $400-$450--although I hear their cakes are amazing I think that is a little to much to spend on a cake that only feeds 30 people but then again what isn't expensive when it comes to weddings.

I saw this somewhere online, and I think I'm gonna do something similar to this. FH is a huge fan of Hostess Cupcakes and their other goodies too... I think it's kinda cute. But it won't be our wedding cake

If FH had any say in the matter, he would want a huge football shaped cake. I LOATHE FOOTBALL and everything about it. At one of his friends' weddings, the couple were actually introduced with the Monday Night Football theme. I stand no chance do I?

I had mine at the RD and made it ALL chocolate for my DH with his favorite baseball teams' logo on it. I made it large enough to feed everyone at the RD (60 people)

I would love to get FH a cake, but after asking his opinion - he doesn't want one But, he does want a new puter, so I may get him that... something that will be more useful to us in the future

However, I spoke with Tom from Audrey's Bakery and gave me a price of about $150 for a car shaped like FH's car.... The price doesn't sound bad to me at all!

Re: Grooms Cake

I'm thinking of doing one for the rehearsal dinner in a golf theme, since my FH lives for golf, and even proposed to me on a golf course (sort of...the scenic drive around Pebble Beach course in CA).
