I'm using Audrey's in Sayville...I have to bc they are the offical baker for my RH. They do great work so I have no problem with it. I got an estimate of $350 for a Yankee themed cake. I figured I don't need a cake big enough to feed everyone at the reception bc we are having the vienese hour.
Definitley give them a call.

OMG Dortoni's is great-- they have other locations too if Levittown is too far for you. They have one in Port Jeff (La Bonne Boulangerie)... we are getting our E-Party cake from them and I have used them before-- TO DIE FOR!!! Everyone raves about their unique way of designing and especially the TASTE...

Also, not to be outdone lol, Audrey's is excellent too-- they are my caterer's bakery (Lovin Oven) and their stuff (I have had them at tastings) is out of this world also. Even the guy I met with from Dortoni's (the owner's son) told me that Audrey's and his bakery were both up there as being excellent-- so that means it's really good!! My wedding cake will be from Audrey's b/c FF provides it and that's their bakery... and b/c I love both places I might get the Groom's cake from Dortoni's just to be fair-- b/c I love them both

Also, for the one bride who asked-- you are NOT dumb at all!! groom's cakes are not that common. a groom's cake was originally a southern tradtion... it's a way of having a fun cake that showcases something about the groom's personality, style, taste. I guess it was started b/c the wedding is the bride's show so this was a nice way to include him. You could do the logo of the college he attended, my FH loves wine-- so a wine bottle with grapes around it, a boat if he is big boating fan, etc... the possibilites are endless. you can either present the cake to him as a dessert at the RD before the wedding OR at the reception itself along with the wedding cake. The filling is usually something that the groom would prefer too-- my FH loves rasberry cheesecake so that's what it will be made of. It's a creative and fun way to include them! It is traditionally supposed to be a surprise but it's totally up to you how you want to do it if you choose to...

OK, hope all that helps you guys!!

Re: GROOMS CAKE!!!

Im pretty sure I bought mine for $75! Heres a pic so you can see the size. I basically bought it for show and then used it for a birthday cake for Gabe at the wedding. We already had a huge wedding cake so it didnt matter. A lot of people dont eat the cake anyway. By then they are STUFFED!
