Groom's Cake

Who's doing one? RD or Wedding Reception? I was thinking of getting a red Lambo one for FH because that's his dream car (and red is our theme). Anyone recommend any bakeries?

we were thinking rehearsal dinner or at the wedding.. im debating cos i know we'll already have a cake at the reception, but if i serve it at the RD i'm thinking people may not have a chance to eat it (i have a huge bridal party n feel like everything's gonna be crazy).. and if i serve it at the wedding then at least it'll be in pictures and FH can look at his cake and i can look at mine? lol i dunno.. suggestions ladies please

When do you serve the groom's cake?

Normally it is served during the reception - there just isn't a formal cutting 'ceremony' as there is for the wedding cake.

However, with viennese (sp?) hours and make your own sundae bars cropping up at weddings, a lot are having it at the rehearsal dinner.

We plan to have one, especially b/c my groom is from the south and this is a must have southern tradition. We will have it at the reception but it will be in a different location than the wedding cake. It will be a different flavor from the the wedding cake. Traditionally its chocolate with a fruit filling or other decadent topping etc. I will most likely have the club serve a normal slice of my wedding cake with a small piece of the grooms cake on the same plate. This is usually how I see most places handle it.
