For anyone that got a grooms cake, or is getting one, where did you get it from? I want something related to sports, and something cool like you see on Ace of Cakes! Also does anyone know around how much they run? I have no idea. Thanks!

Re: Grooms Cake
Ask the bakery that's doing your regular wedding cake. They probably have requests for grooms' cakes all the time. I'll be doing the same; my RH's bakery is The Rolling Pin and a few other RHs use that bakery as well. I'll probably ask for a computer shaped cake or maybe a car...

Re: Grooms Cake
i'm going to do a basketball cake since FH is obsessed and put this on top... you can order it from the same bakery that does your wedding cake...i'm thinking Dortoni's
those cakes from Ace of Cakes are EXTREMELY expensive! me and the FH watch that show all the time so i would have loved to drive to baltimore to get one! but umm yeah that would cost me a fortune!
I am having a grooms cake made. My reception hall supplies our wedding cake, their bakery is the Rolling Pin bakery. so when i talked to the guy about our wedding cake, i mentioned that i wanted a grooms cake, and they said they can do that also!
originally i wanted a 3D nascar car. when i questioned the bakery for prices he gave me 3 a small round cake with a nascar logo would be $50 (but i wanted something cooler than that) then he said a cut out of a car, with the car design and details painted on, lying flat on a board (sheet cake) would cost me $260 then the 3D one that i was hoping for said would cost me $590!! so that was out!
i am going with the cut out sheet cake car for $260!
There are lots of bakerys that do grooms cakes, prob all diffreent prices depending on what you want and all that, but i thought this would be the easiest for me, because they will just deliver the cake with our wedding cake the day of!
hope that helps! sorry i feel like i wrote a book!

Re: Grooms Cake
Hi there!
I don´t mean to sound ignorant but what is a grooms cake? I´m assuming that it´s a cake for the groom but when and how is it used? Is it a personal cake just for him? I guess I have been out of the country for too long!! I don´t know about the current customs!!
Thanks,
Gemma

Re: Grooms Cake
It's a cake for the goom and based on old folklore.... I copied this from a site....
According to superstition, any single woman at a wedding should go home with a slice of groom's cake and sleep with it under her pillow. That night, according to legend, she'll dream of her future husband. Whether or not the folklore holds true, it seems that the old Southern tradition of the groom's cake is making a comeback — not only in the South but in metropolitan areas all over the nation, where designers are whipping up elaborate confections that reflect the groom's interests in a dramatic and memorable way.

Usually its a cake that incorporates things that the groom enjoys. Everyone eats it, and usually they have it at the RD or the reception.
We'll be eating ours at the RD and hopefully it'll be in the shape of Bruno the Buckeye from The Ohio State University

Re: Grooms Cake
If you are having the cake at the RH how big should the cake be? Enough for all the guests? Do you eat the grooms cake too?

Re: Grooms Cake
I got my Grooms cake from Audreys Bakery. Pics are in one of my albums. They did an amazing job and it was way better than my wedding cake. I emailed around for pricing and they gave me the best price.

I got DH's from hey! cookie, a division of Dortoni Bakery in Levittown. Janet made a citi field cake that looked adorable! It said 'I hit a home run when I met you' and our names.
