Grooms Cake

What is the deal with a Grooms Cake? Isn't the wedding cake and viennese hour enough?

Grooms Cake

I'm a 2013 bride, but I saw your screenname and I'm Lisa marrying a Stephen so I had to say hi!

For the grooms cake, my friends have done this at the rehearsal dinner, which is what I plan on doing.

Grooms Cake

I would think so. Some people have the grooms cake for the rehearsal dinner. I have never been to a wedding where there was one. I think it's more about personal preference.

Grooms Cake

I haven't ever been to a wedding where they had one either, but I think it's a cool idea. Especially since my FH has basically given in to every request I've had, it would be something nice to do for him to show him that I appreciate everything he's done.

Re: Grooms Cake

That makes sense. I didn't really know what it was, I just assumed it was at the reception. I will look into it then for the RD. My FH has been a good sport as I drag him everywhere with me.

Grooms Cake

I'm having it at the rehearsal dinner. We are going to need dessert anyway so I'm getting a cake made for him

Grooms Cake

I'm having it at the rehearsal dinner. I want to surprise FH. My friend actually surprised her husband with a Mets themed groom's cake at the reception. She made a short (less than a minute)speech to her husband and she let him cut it. It was cute, but my preference is for RD.

That is a good idea. Parents of FH said they are paying for the RD so I'm sure they will be happy that I'm supplying the cake!

Grooms Cake

I am doing a grooms cake only because I HATE football and I kind of told FH that there is NOTHING Giants at our wedding. lol. So I want to surprise him with a NY Giants helmet groomscake. Usually, you don't serve the cake... it's just a surprise for him to take home.

Re: Grooms Cake

I found this website which kind of answers the question. It can be served at the RD or reception. I just hope the single ladies don't sleep with a slice under their pillow http://weddings.weddingchannel.com/wedding-planning-ideas/wedding-cake/qa/what-is-a-grooms-cake-do-you-need-one.aspx?MsdVisit=1

Grooms Cake

I really need to research which bakery to use. I live in Suffolk but I am sure we are having our RD in Nassau since that is where the Church we are having the ceremony is. (Oyster Bay) I really need to start researching this. Hmmm... First, I am going to call my bakery that is doing our wedding cake..

Grooms Cake

I would like to display the grooms cake at the reception. That way the cakes show as a his and hers type thing. Plus we aren't planning to have a large wedding cake (probably big enough for half of the guests) this way the guests will have another option for flavor in addition to our dessert table.

My FH wants a grooms cake, so we will do one at the reception!
