Can some one tell me what a grooms cake is and why they have it. I feel silly asking this, I feel like I should already know this. Thanks!!!

Re: Grooms cake???
I think they are just a cute little gesture for the groom to get him a cake that's usually shaped in something he likes (sports) and/or his favorite flavor.
Most girls are now doing the grooms cake at their rehearsal dinners...I would have done one too, but my restaurant won't allow outside cakes.

Re: Grooms cake???
someone just had a post on this. a few of us posted pics of the groom's cakes we had for our DHs.
the groom's cake is a tradition from the south (i think). traditionally the groom's cake is served at the wedding alongside the wedding (bride's) cake. as the wedding cake is often white cake, the groom's cake is often something different, most notably chocolate.
traditions aren't always upheld and these days you see brides presenting their grooms with cakes at the engagement party or rehearsal dinner.
i gave my DH his cake at the rehearsal dinner. it was a chocolate cake with cannoli filling in the shape of a VA Tech Hokie:
i ordered it from audrey's in west sayville. they always make such yummy cakes.
