Grooms Parents?

Original post by Jamie&MarkSept.'05

Are any of the groom's parents contributing to the wedding? And if so, how?

FH's parents have offered to chip in, but not sure how to go about it...

THey havent been the least bit helpfull. We have been engaged since last June and i question the fact that they even want us to get married. I told my FH that it is traditional that the grooms parents pay for the RD so he had to tell them that. They dont speak english so i dont even know if they know that yet. He doesnt want to ask them for anything. But i dont feel that bad b/c both of my parents have chipped in and these days-who can afford to pay for a wedding by themselves?

Big old nada. My FMIL has a wonderful phrase 'I don't care about tradition'. That usual means money is involved.

NOPE- just the RD. My parents are paying for EVERYTHING.

Actually his parents bought us our plane tickets for our honeymoon, but that was our Christmas gift.

When we got engaged I suggested that everyone pay for their own guests. I figured out how much it would be per head w/tax and gratuity. My parents are going to contribute the most b/c I have the bigger family by more then double. FH and I are paying for our friends and his parents are paying for their family.

FMIL offered to pay for very specific things... it was kind of strage, I wish she had just offered a flat amount... but anything is good really. FFIL is just paying for the RD (and chipped in for the E-party) and is supposedly giving us a 'very substantial' gift.

His parents are paying for 1/2 of the wedding. My father is giving us our wedding present early, $13,000. (don't know where that figure came from) and whatever the difference is FI and I will be splitting.

FH and I are paying for everything ourselves, but if anyone offers to help us, we would gladly accept!!

FH's parents and my parents (Mom and Stepdad) are contibuting equal amounts, and my Dad is contributing something (we're just not sure what, yet) ...and we are paying for the remainder. Because of the size of the guest list, it was important for all the parents to help out with the monetary funding....otherwise, the guest list would have been cut significantly (causing major headaches for some of those involved).

fh's parents are paying for the rehearsal dinner, as well as our flowers. That seems to be it. my parents have given us 500/month since dec '03, so i just put that in our 'wedding fund' and use it towards whatever, in addition my parents are also paying for my shower, but I am hoping FMIL will help her with that! everything else FH and I are paying for

we didn't ask either set of parents to chip in. My mother in law split the shower with my mom and she threw the rehersal dinner.
My parents threw the engagement party and split the shower with mother in law.
