grr... sorry, super long vent!
for those of you with nice normal FMILs, beware - this is a VENT!!
it's such a small thing, and yet so big... we have been planning this wedding for months now, and despite FH having asked - twice - his parents claim that they cannot afford to give us anything towards our wedding. ok, that's fine - my parents are helping, and we planned on paying for most of it ourselves anyway. but they can afford it - and they know how financially strapped we are. so not the point, but still... (i know, i'm being a bit greedy there).
the kicker is that FMIL gave me her guest list a couple of months ago, about 40 people, which isn't too bad considering some of those people were already on our list and some are family - but there are cousins and friends on their neither FH or i have ever met, and others he hasn't seen since he was like 5. we were going to cut her list, but i guess i kind of chickened out. didn't want any hard feelings, blah, blah, blah.
so yesterday, i was finalizing the list with FMIL, and she mentions that one of the guests (FH's great-aunt) won't be coming (because we aren't inviting her daughters - another long story) so she wants to add another person, + guest, to our list. UM, HELLO!!! the point is not to cram as many people on the list as possible!! we are expecting to have some no's!!! we are not expecting to have to pay for a wedding of 170 people!!!
and, to top it all off, the person she wants to add is an #$^*#$*!$ and i can't stand him. he's not even a real friend, he just works for them, and he is a shady, slimy character.
i actually had to leave the room so i wouldn't lose it.
FH promises to talk to her - we shall see how that pans out. but i just submitted my address list to the calligrapher - and wouldn't you know it? his name wasn't on there
thanks for letting me vent ladies - i promise i will try to make my next post more positive!!!
