Grrr...job search vent

So I have been unemployed for two months now and have been sending in tons of resumes and only hearing back on a few. I am trying to switch areas within publishing and fining it really difficult. Well, on a whim I sent in a resume for the same job I had at my last company, same title and even in children's books (where I was) and also sent the same company my resume for another position I liked more. Well, what do you know, they called today about the position that was the same as I had before. Grrrr. I feel like I can never cross over. I feel so stressed and confused.

Hang in there!!!! You know in your heart if its what you want to do. At this point I wouldn't accept it b/c in a few months you will be unhappy again, something will come up!!!

What kind of position are you looking for, and in what aspect of publishing?

what are you trying to cross into? Is it to far of a jump? Maybe that's why people aren't calling you for those types of jobs?

Is there a mid-step you should be looking at?
Like same position, but not childrens, instead of new position, new market?

I was in children's managing editorial at Penguin and I would really like to be in editorial and a decent sized reputable house and then move to a lterary agency. I interviewed with an agent on Monday and she wants to hire me, but she will have to see how much money they can offer since their starting salary is $21,000!!!

I had a little bit of experience in what I want to cross into, and I am willing to take a step back but I think my five years of experience in publishing is scaring them off.
