Is it customary that fh's parents pay for the rd? im so frustrated..they haven't offered us a dime for anything (my parents are paying for most of the wedding..our hall, shower, dress, flowers, invitations) and they offered us nothing..i don't understand this..is anyone else having this problem? i don't know what to do for the rd? it looks like fh and I will be paying for it

Re: grrrrrrrrr
Maybe your FH can ask them about it?? Or maybe bring it up in conversation how you guys are going to be paying for your own RD dinner.

Re: grrrrrrrrr
Traditioanlly the FH's family pays for the RD.
However, I know a lot of couples pay for it themselves now.
FH and i are paying for pretty much everything in our wedding including the RD.
Maybe your FH can talk o them to see if they plan on paying?

join the club!
we are probably just going to have coffee and dessert at my aunt's house which is nearby the church for anyone who wants to come since FH and I cant afford a RD too
ETA: we feel awkward asking FH's parents for anything wedding related. i feel like if they wanted to do anything, they would have offered.
good luck with everything!!!

Re: grrrrrrrrr
We do not know yet what is going on with our RD. FH and I are paying for the bulk of the wedding. My parents and sisters are helping.
FMIL mentioned 'looking' for somewhere for our RD but that was the extent of it.

Re: grrrrrrrrr
Well I think a lot of customary things have gone out the window. Typically the groom's parents are supposed to pay for flowers, limos and the RD. The bride's parents pick up the rest. We are paying for everything ourselves including the RD which will be at our house. Can you have the RD at your house or his parents house?

Re: grrrrrrrrr
We are paying for everything ourselves. We are getting married at the RH so no actual rehearsal. We are hosting the RD at our house and doing a dessert party. We are going to have a ton of stuff including an sunday bar (we have an ice cream maker). We have over 30 people coming so we think this will be a blast.

Re: grrrrrrrrr
I think assuming archaic, traditional roles doesn;t work for a lot of people anymore.
I would definitely ask them to help in some way.
You never know, they may have a huge gift in mind for the 2 of you.
My FMIL is a thorn in my side and complains about the cost of every expenditure. Having said that, she is also giving us a ridiculous amount of money as a wedding gift; so I let all her snide remarks roll off of my back.
I would talk to them and ask if they can help. The worst that they can say is no.

Re: grrrrrrrrr
Mine aren't paying for sh*t , my dad is footing that bill too. This is why I will not accomodate her requests for anything wedding related , when she does not contribute emotionally OR financially

You wouldnt be ungrateful because they havent offered to pay for anything! Now if they were already paying for other things then it would be ungrateful to expect them to pay for the RD. Maybe they just dont know
