well my FH just visited his parents and asked his father to pay for the RD. He said yes of course, but if FH didnt ask then they wouldnt have known that they were suppose to do so.
Try talking to them about it... cant hurt!

Im having that problem my parents paid for a bunch of things and FHs hasnt im just going to plan the RD myself instead of waiting...its nothing to get worked up over!

oh man I'm sorry ... I would have FH talk to them, I don't know there situation, but they could probably at least split it with you, or have it at there house ya know.

You wouldnt be ungrateful because they havent offered to pay for anything! Now if they were already paying for other things then it would be ungrateful to expect them to pay for the RD. Maybe they just dont know

Same with us - they threw us the eparty so I feel like we can't ask them to pick up the RD. we're keeping pretty low key though - yeah it's an added expense, but the OOT guests are mostly my family, so I'm ok picking up the tab.

my parents threw us an eparty; my mom is paying for my shower and my dress. FH and I are paying for everything else. my FMIL asked me when I brought up the RD in general what she was supposed to pay for... I don't want to take her money so I said no, we will have a dinner the night before (not really RD b/c we're getting married at the RH) and pay for it... but part of me wishes she would offer just b/c she hasn't been involved in anything or offered anything so it would be an indication she cared...
BUT, she gave us a very nice engagement gift, and will probably give us a very nice wedding gift, she's a widow and still works at 66. So I wouldn't take her money, would just like a little bit more interest....
but maybe they don't know they are supposed to pay. she definitely didn't.
