Guarantee for Halls

Does anyone know of any reception halls where you do not have to guarantee a 100 people? We only have about 80-90 people that we can guarantee. A lot of places you have to promise them like 125 or 150 people.

Re: Guarantee for Halls

I am having a small wedding as well ( about 50-60 ). I have spoken to a few places that want a guarantee under 100. The NYBG has a place called The Snuff Mill they want a guarantee of 70ppl. Majestic Gardens was 75 min. Westbury manor did not state a min., but told me that they could work with my #. I have some calls in to a few other places. If you want I'll let you know what they say. Good luck

Re: Guarantee for Halls

Try the Swan Club in Roslyn, BEAUTIFUL grounds - small rooms. And also Caffe on the Green - same! However that's located in Queens, I'm pretty sure it's in Douglaston!

Re: Guarantee for Halls

You actually can look at some restaurants which may even close for you.

I'm not sure what they hold but here's what I can think of:

The Woodlands (Woodbury)
Testarosa (Syosset)

Milleridge Inn
Main Maid Inn

There's the Art Museum in roslyn
DeSeversky Center
Dowling College - not sure but think they have something

good luck

Re: Guarantee for Halls

We tried the Riviera in Massapequa. They have a beautiful room (a little on the dark side but still beautiful) and the grounds were also very nice. It's on the water. The main room could probably hold what you are thinking of having very comfortable and they seem very affordable. Try them. Good luck!

Re: Guarantee for Halls

The Meadow Club in Port Jefferson also has a smaller room that is a guarentee of I think 70 people. You can call and find out though.

Re: Guarantee for Halls

This was one of my major problems when I was first looking.

We thought we were going to have about 80-90 guests. Places that could accomadate that number with a little leeway all wanted at least 150 for a Saturday night. Smaller places that allowed for the lower min seemed too cramped to hold the number of people they advertised.

So I was lucky that someone recommended a location finding service called IGMC that helps people find locations for weddings and other events in Manhattan. They got the Yale Club to agree to a 100 person minimum instead of their usual 125-150. I would imagine that there must be a similiar company on LI.

Oh and by the way - I ended up with 115 guest instead of the 90 I expected. So having a little extra room is a good idea.

Re: Guarantee for Halls

We hat to guarantee 92 for our Friday night wedding at the watermill.
They didn't start off at this number we negotiated(sp?)
Would have chosen lands end but they wouldn't budge with their 150 number and we didn't even invite 150.

Re: Guarantee for Halls

We had some concerns with the guarantees at reception halls. We found most places were flexible for afternoon weddings, which is what we decided on. John Anthony's even counted the children at 1/2 price toward our minimum. Even with that we were short 2 people!

Re: Guarantee for Halls

I work at the Milleridge Inn and I can tell you that The Milleridge Carriage House has a guarentee of 75 people. Also the actual Inn has a room (The Philodendrum) with a guarentee of 75.
