My guarantee is 140 and I invitied about 200 so far. I dont even want more than 140 to be there... but I've heard of so many people saying No ...we just wanted to be safe and make our minimum. We HOPE!

I have to guarantee 150 and I am inviting 190 - 200. I am going to try to invite over 200 if i can since so many girls have been inviting so many and falling very short of there minimum.

Right now our guest list is only at 176

Our room is so big that our BM said we need at least 150 otherwise it will look like a wedding in a warehouse. I wouldn't mind 175 coming. I would rather have more than enough people than wasting money.

I still have to ask my parents about other people they have to invite

Re: Guarantee Question

i am nervous about this as well. especially since more and more people are declining invitations due to the economy because they can't afford the cost of going to a wedding.. it stinks but i guess i will have to be more flexible w/ my guest list and tell FH his parents can invite whoever they want LOL.

Re: Guarantee Question

Im my mind I would love for 175 people to come! (Thats just about my whole guest list-lol) But slowly we are adding people. I think we should be able to make it. Like I said before I just dont want to have to pay for plates if I cant guarantee the minimun

Did you invite people with guests? If you didnt it might be a good idea

Re: Guarantee Question

Yep I invited people with guests. For my eparty we invited like 130 people and 110 came...Most of the wedding list is made up of the same people- but I want to be on the safe side

Re: Guarantee Question

You can also have an A and B list. When an A-lister responds 'No', send an invite out to a B-lister. The only thing is that usually the people who say 'no' RSVP' late. You can't really send out an invitation 3 weeks before your wedding.
I have a lot of coworkers, so if I fall short I'll just start handing out invitations at work.

Re: Guarantee Question

good luck with this one... it's tough and with the economy and if you have a lot of people traveling in it may be hard to judge.

I invited 195 (possibly a couple more) and then people that said yes starting dropping the week of the wedding. so my 150 Gar. (when I had 152+) came in under the minimum.

Re: Guarantee Question

My guarantee is also 150...our guest list is 225. My mom and I went through and figured out who we knew would say no, so we are just hovering over our minimum right now. But who knows what will happen in a year and a half.

I agree with the idea of inviting guests with a date...it's a good way to get to the minimum

Re: Guarantee Question

Given the state of the world right now, I don't think that you can go by the standard 20% will say no rule. Just seeing the trend with the end of 08 brides and early 09 brides, a lot of girls are falling short of their minimums. Unfortunately, you'll probably have to invite at least 20-30 people more than planned to even hope you'll meet.

Re: Guarantee Question

I don't understand. Regardless of what the economy is like and how many expenses we have..that would not be the deciding factor in going to a wedding. The deciding factor is always a- am I free on that day? and b- have I seen this person in the past year? Not...do I have the money? It's 400 dollars (per couple), not 4000.

Re: Guarantee Question

Plan for 20%-25% of people to decline. We invited 173 ppl and ended up with exactly our minimum of 125 so it worked out for us, but I really didn't think that many people were going to say no! Plus, like a few other girls said, because of the economy and people watching their spending more, you might want to expect a little bit higher 'no' percentage.

Last month, I went to a wedding and another couple (who is a friend of ours) did not attend b/c they simply couldnt afford to give them a gift of $300. They are just getting by to pay their rent.... and I've heard many other people who are also going through this. My friends didnt want to go and give less than $300 and then be embarrased by not being able to afford more. Wow you give $400 to your friends? You should def. come to my wedding
