guess what I found!!!!!

guess what I found!!!!!

My DH and I just got a furniture for our dining room and I began to put away my good china and glasses (they were still in boxes) when I came across a shoe box with the good glass for our toast at our reception. I unwrapped them and a diamond ring came flying out! I didn't recognize it and neither did my mom and MIL. It has 7 good sized diamonds in it. It must have belonged to the person who washed my glasses and reboxed them for us! I called my catering hall to check if anyone was missing a ring but since it has been over 2 years they said they dont' remember any claims and that their staff has changed so much that it might have belonged to someone who used to work there! Basically they said 'enjoy!'

I am going to wait a while but I am going to have my FIL make it into a necklace or another ring for me!

Am I being selfish? What should I do?

I'm sure that you'll never find the person - but it makes me sad for them! Any other way you think you could find the person? Maybe put a listing on Craig's list or something?

funny thing is last yea rmy dad found an e-ring at the bank he goes to. He gave it to the teller. She said that if no one claims it with in a certain amount of time it would be his. He never thought about it again until about 6 months later when he went into the bank and the teller said to him that no one claimed the ring and it was his to keep. My dad said that he couldn't take it and the teller said that the bank couldn't keep it, so it was his. My dad took it to a cop he knows and he said to keep it, that the police dept. would just give it back to him since so much time had passed and they couldn't be bothered since so much time had passed and that he had turned it into the bank so.. it was taken care of!

Today it's a beautiful necklace that my mom wears! Thankfully my inlaws are jewlers!

Wierd isn't it?????

im a sad for the person also but if they didnt make a claim maybe it wasnt that important to them and you deserve to enjoy it

It is definately a vintage ring and I feel bad if it was a family heirloom. I want to return it to the owner but don't know how to at this point. I am going to ask a family friend who's a cop. If not, great find for me!
