Guess who has to change her wedding date?

Guess who has to change her wedding date?

I think this is God's way of telling me to elope!

Either that, or no one is listening to me when I talk (which is probably the more likely scenario!

Apparently, August 15 is a Holy Day of Obligation. Last night FH and me were having dinner with another couple and our priest, who mentions that I can have the 2:30 slot on that day. So, I told him that doesn't work since we want a morning wedding mass because we want to have a wedding brunch buffet, not a sit-down dinner.

Well, apparently, I can NOT have the usual morning slot that they usually have for Saturday weddings because on a Holy Day of Obligation on Saturday, the last mass is at noon, and 'You don't want to be rushed....'

FH was great about it...his reaction was simply, 'We'll just do it the week before....'

I mean, true, it's not the end of the world, but it really is a bit of an annoyance! I mean I'm having TWO priests concelabrate my wedding Mass...do you think either one of them would have said something BEFORE????

So...now I'm back to Square 1!!!

I completely understand how hurt and frustrated you must feel. You poor thing! But thankgoodness you found out sooner than later because then it could have been a real disaster.

Sorry about having to change your date!! On a good note, if you haven't booked any major vendors yet, I think you will be in good shape of still getting a date that you want!!! Good Luck to you!!!

Hello possible (or not so possible) date twin!

When I sat down with my priest and told him my choice of date, August 15, 2009, he also explained to me that it was a Holy Day of Obligation (Feast of Assumption). He said he would get back to me to let me know if that day was possible. When he got back to me, he said that the only time slot would be 2:00-3:00 for a mass. I guess the only difference between you and I is that I wanted a mid-afternoon mass so that time was perfect for me (although an hour later would have been even better).. I had no idea that Aug. 15 is a Holy Day. If we couldn't get married on the 15th, our second option was going to be a week earlier.

Just thought I'd share. Keep us posted on your final decision.

We really wanted to keep it as close to August 13 as possible because that was the day of our first date and that's the day we always celebrate our anniversary.

On the bright side, I haven't booked any vendors yet, I've just been inquiring about the date. So it really isn't that big of a deal, just an annoyance.

OH man, well, DO NOT worry, that's the beauty of '09, still lots of time to move things around. It will be terrific, and even though it is the theme of this post, things do happen for a reason.
