Guest 'Book'
I do not want to do a traditional guest book. I know I there have been some other, more creative ideas floating around these boards. Please share again. Thanks!

Re: Guest 'Book'
I wanted to get a ceramic plate, pre-paint a backround on it, and then leave it at the table with a special pen and have everyone sign it. But, since we are having 200 people, I think it would get really sloppy. So, I am just doing a traditional guest book, and doing the plate thing at the rehearsal dinner. good luck!

Re: Guest 'Book'
We had pictures made up by Picture Yourself Graphics... an 8x10' of us as a little bride and groom, and got it double matted and the guests signed that, and we got trading cards as our favors. It was a big hit. Everyone loved them.

Re: Guest 'Book'
For the Xmas theme, what about using red / green cards, with a small sled to put them in?

Theresa: Another x-mas idea: maybe use ornaments where people can write their thoughts w/ a perm marker... It'll certainly be a fast way that you can decorate your tree!

Re: Guest 'Book'
ms 'wish' bowli am actually puing together my wish bowl right now. my friends wedding is on sunday. i will let you know how it goes over!
i bought 2 bowls from michaels @3.99 each. they are fish bowl looking. round, but not too large (185) guests. so i bought 2. i got 3 votive candle holders and 3 navy candles from michaels to decorate the table. the votives are the same bowl as the wish bowl just a smaller size. the votives were 1.99. i got card stock in assorted blue and gray shades from pick quick and 4 gel pens. this way more than one guest can sign at a time. 2 blue 2 silver. i will cut the card stock myself in to the size card i want. fan them out in front of the bowl. i am not using the envelopes that martha uses. i will attach the cards to a scrapbook page using picture corners. and place photos along side of them from the cameras that will be on each table. i am thinking of using 'helper' cards to get the guests started. things like.. 'recipe for a happy marriage' and 'always remember to...'. then i will type up a little 'directions sheet' and use two picture frames to set along side of the wish bowls. im undecided on which little poem to use or to even use one at all. not big on poems. i think that about explains it all.
whew this is LONG!

Re: Guest 'Book'
I plan on doing a wish bowl also. I know Lion in the Sun in Huntington has the paper and envelopes pre-cut in a zillion colors. I also think having a few pens around is a good idea.

Re: Guest 'Book'
I was thinking of doing the plate as the guest book but I will be having a little over 200 people. Do you guys think it will get sloppy or can I just get a larger plate and it will be fine? Thanks!

plate
i think the plate is an awesome idea. i would have used that myself but i didnt discover it until too late.i think it might get sloppy with that many guests, maybe you could purchase 2 plates.
also, peole that used that idea were kinda bummed because guests didnt sign. have your DJ/Band remind the guests.

Re: plate
No matter what you use - everyone isn't going to sign it.My wedding is in less than 2 weeks - I will let you know how it turned out when I come back.

Re: Guest 'Book'
We are doing this picture idea that we saw and loved in In Style. The guest book is already put together scrapbook style, etc. And a friend has agreed to help make this happen, but we have a Polaroid camera to take pictures of all the guests and then the guests sign the pic or write a note next to the pic in the scrapbook. It sounds more complicated than it is! You just stick the picture right in to the book.

Re: plate
i didnt mean to imply that guests will sign everything else except plates. just that a kind, quick reminder from the dj/band cant hurt! especially with large guest lists.

Re: plate
Lau- I wasn't offended by that comment (sorry if I sounded defensive) - i just wanted to comment that the same # of people will sign no matter what kind of guest 'book' you use.My guestplate will be at my cocktail hour and then moved to my reception room. Ive asked my coordinator to make sure that the entire wedding party signs it because Im sure they will be the most preoccupied.

its supposed to rain on sunday! the bride is freaking. im not going to tell her 'its good luck'. i think she will punch me! ha.
