Guest book alternative
My co-worker's son (the children of everyone I work with seem to be getting married) is getting married in August, and as an alternative to a guest book, she got them an engravable silver serving platter/tray thing.
She had it professionally engraved in the center with the names of the bride and groom and the date of their wedding. The guests will use a battery-operated etching pen to engrave their messages into the tray at the wedding.
The tray was $75 to purchase and $25 to engrave it professionally - and it comes with the etching pen.
She got it at some place called Love My Basket.
