Are guest book necessary? I mean who really looked through it after the wedding? I feel it’s just a waste of money. IDK… any other ideas or thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

Re: guest book -- thoughts
we made a wedding website with the story of how we met, the proposal, etc.....
anyway, i know that soon all that hard work would be forgotten about, so instead i copied all of that text and included it in our guest book, along with our e-pics
so, not everyone signed the guest book (booo!), but i am really happy that i found a way to incorporate and save the written story about our 'moments' that we worked so hard on
i love our book!

We weren't going to have one, and then the night before the wedding DH shows up with one he bought before dinner. Meanwhile, about 30 people signed, but they each signed on a single line, so we only used like, 2 or 3 pages. For me, it wasn't worth it.

Thats what I think too... I have been to a few weddings this year and noticed many people just over look it and the ones that sign its only like one page.
I have seen other ideas on the board with wish notes and trees but its just a waste of closet space for me after the wedding..
I may opt out of the whole idea and save my money. (FH will love this idea of saving $)

We're doing wish note cards that I'm going to put in a little album after the wedding...I think it will be a nice memento without taking up much space...I just hope people fill them out!

Re: guest book -- thoughts
I bought a coffee table book that has photographs of famous and unusual weddings throughout history and had people write all over that 'yearbook style' and it came out great! We have it in our living room now and it's fun to flip through.
The book is called 'The Wedding Album' and I saw it in a bookstore in Brooklyn for $50... and then found it on amazon.com for $1.25!!!! So I bought it. It was fun.

We had a make a wish, take a wish kit. We had two baskets...one had Bible verses/Irish blessings/etc. in it, and the others had blank pieces of paper. People took one from the 'take a wish' basket and left a message in the 'make a wish' basket. I'd say we had about 50 people do it, and it was worth it to us.

They are not necessary at all. Ours is actually serves two purposes for us. It's an album of our E-Pics that I would have made anyway, so we are also making it our guestbook. If a few people sign than great... if not, oh well! If you are going to have one make sure it's somewhere visible - like when the guests first walk in. Whenever I do see the guestbook at a wedding I sign it.

Re: guest book -- thoughts
i agree and then half of the people end up not signing it anyway..the idea of one is nice but we opted not to do one
