guest drama (long sorry)

Re: guest drama (long sorry)

first, i would delete the facebook message (if its on your wall or anywhere else you can totally delete it)

I am not inviting everyone with guest. we have many single friends who are not seeing anyone. most of our friends know eachother. it's just way too many people to have everyone bring +1, and we'd rather have people we care about there instead of Susie Q's plus one. However, we are inviting anyone in a 'serious relationship' with their signficant other by name.

I don't really agree with the engaged-only rule, but maybe that's because we dated for ~5 years before we were engaged, and I still think we were a serious couple before that point. The same thing with living together -- one of my best friends has been with her bf 2+ years, and they don't live together. another friend has been with her bf 8 months and they moved in after 3. I don't think the second friend is any more serious than the one not living together. We finalized our guest list in January, and the newest relationships were about 5-6 months. We included them -- they will be nearing the 1 year mark by our wedding. I know it's harder with respect to where you draw the line, but we each need to do what's right for us.

I'm sorry your friend is being such a ---------. If he was in a serious relationship I could see his point, but even still that's not the way to go about it.

I feel your pain, i could tell you some stories that make your mouth drop....
don't worry he'll get over it, when you do get in contact with him, be courteous and make he feel bad for asking

You did the right thing, you invite who you want, not cause people tell you it's what you need to do

As of right now..FH is making me invite everyone with a guest because he feels it is rude not to. So I have the opposite problem!

The reason I said that engaged or married is because in our community, dating is a big thing.. especially since he knows a lot of people there.. but there are few exceptions with us as well..

i can't access facebook from work.. i am soo going to delete it..

I think that you are right in your thinking. I am only inviting people with a guest if they are married, engaged, or have been together for awhile and I know them. I am making one exception for a BM, but I would be friends with anyone that she brought.
People don't think about things, don't let it upset you, if he wants to come, he will come without a guest.

I here ya sister! Why can't people get that we invite a certain amount of people for a reason.....cause it costs too damn much to feed an army!!!!
Maybe we have big families and want all of them there but still want our friends to be there. Sorry if we can't afford to feed the girl you just met or (in my case) your three kids that weren't invited!!!
Sorry, can you tell i'm going through guest list drama too!

o lordie.. i hear ya..

FH's family insists of inviting everyone including their children (literally) even if they are 25 and live at home.. and they have no clue as to who anyone is.. so i hear ya.. as a result our guestlist has exploded!!

I agree with the other response. Delete from your facebook wall. Same here with guests, except not inviting only if engaged. Many couples we know are very serious and not engaged.

I agree 110%... I have a limit on how many people can fit in my room comfortably so my FH and I decided not to invite everyone with a guest. Sorry so sad but there are people that I'd rather see there then your guest. My Aunt keeps hinting that my cousin has a new girlfriend but I quite frankly don't care. His sister Michelle has been dating someone for about a year come time of our wedding and I don't think I'll be inviting him. I have a budget and a limit and people should respect that.
