Guest Help!!

does every un-married guest need a plus 1?

Should i only include a plus 1 if during the time of the invitation send out i know they have a significant other?

What if i dont know if they have a significant other and i dont give them a plus 1 and they are annoyed?!

I am getting sooo frustrated! I dont even have the 'tenative' list from my FMIL of her family and i'm already reaching my 'mental' max

Thanks!!
Kacie

It depends I have younger cousins who will be 19 20 when I get married and if they don't have a boyfriend I am not putting Plus 1. My list is really only close people so It will be easy for me to put a plus one or not.

ITA - if they're in a relationship, they get one, if not, then no - for those in that 15-20 range.

excellent question! I haven't actually done my list yet but I'll follow the advise of the other brides, if I don't know if the person is in a relationship, I won't put +1. If the guest is in a relationship at the time we're working on the invites, I'll put +1.

what if someone is just dating? I dont know i think for younger ones no date is fine but for those that are seeing some maybe not in a serious relationship I think it isnt right to now allow a guest, especially fi the person doesnt know anyone at wedding.

Re: Guest Help!!

Here is a new issue!

My mother says that my cousins, who by the time my wedding rolls around will be 19 & 23, should be included in my bridal party. My sister got married aug 09' and she included my cousins by having them read religious passages, got them corsages and had their names in the programs. But i am not having a religious ceremony at all and i already have an idea for the BP.

My mom says 'i dont think they should be passed over again'. I dont feel like it should be my duty to include them in my BP when i have friends that i'm closer with. I wouldnt mind having them participate in some way, but not as a BM...what do you girls think?

As for the bridal party, I think it would depend upon how close you are with your cousins.

As for the guest list, we simply could not invite every single guest with a +1. Our rule of thumb was that anyone in a serious dating relationship, anyone traveling a long distance or anyone who would not really know other guests was invited with a +1. If someone was single, not in a relationship, was local and would know other people, they did not get a +1. Nobody seemd to be offended.

I have some guests without a plus 1. If they are not currently in a serious relationship then they will not be invited with a guest. I am not paying for random people to eat . I made it very clear if they dont like that then neither of them have to attend. That way I can start inviting off of my B- list

girls now that I think about it, it's ok if you add those extra +1's. Let's say your ideal list is for 120 people, make the list for 130. When they send you the RSVP's, you will notice some people will not come to the event but at least you will meet your minimum and your final payment will be reduced

I agree with panamasweet!

When my sister got married in aug she invited one of her coworkers with a +1. The coworker then rsvp'd for only herself. Then randomly, she all of a sudden has a guest at her party that she's never seen, and he's eating dinner and drinking!!! When she realized that the guy was her coworkers boyfriend, who conveniently showed up at the dinner she was a little pissed. Thankfully she didn't let it ruin her night.

IMO i don't want people at my ceremony/reception that i have no idea who they are.

Re: Guest Help!!

ok - here's my opinion.

No, not everyone will be invited with a guest. If they're in a relationship and not just a random dating thing then yes. This is MY event, not theirs. If they're concerned and ask me I'll consider it. Its a different story if you're not meeting your minimum. If that's the case, maybe the room is too big for the wedding you're planning.

FYI: My FH wants to invite entire families. Like his college friend's family bc he spent time at their house a million years ago. that's a big fat NO! let me grab my big fat red marker and cross those people off his list. lol

Also, you are not obligated to ask anyone you dont want in your bridal party. I wouldn't want to be in my cousins' BPs. Id only want to be in a BP where I was really close with the person and it was important for them to have me in. I don't want to be there for the sake of picture symmetry.
