I was wondering what to say to my FH to curb who he wants to invite to the wedding. We had a long talk about only invited 250 people and now he is like, let's invite these people, they are my cousins or some not close family but they wont come anyway.
My issue is what to say to him because as we all know...if you think they are going to come they dont and if you dont think that they are going to come they do
Please Help

Re: Guest List
Maybe have him make up an A list and a B list?

Re: Guest List
I thought we had already had...I just get ticked off and we get into an argument about this all the time about the guest list. I try not to get ticked and upset but others are butting in on other fronts and it can be annoying

Re: Guest List
Politely remind him exactly how much it costs to add these extra people on and that you are in a recession.

This is what I would do. Add up the cost to have all these random people. This is what I have been doing with my mother. She'll say...'it's only 6 people' and I have to explain that 6 people totals x amount of money!

ITA! Make sure he realizes that every extra table is not only the pph that the RH will charge for food, but also CPs, chair rental, linen rental, favors, additional staff at RH, etc.

Re: Guest List
Definitely tell him to make an A, a B, and even a C list!! Send out your A's and maybe B's first and once you get the 'no's' then send out invites to the C's.
I am having the same problem - both sides are telling us we have to send 'courtesy invites' even though they probably won't come. Ugh! I'm so paranoid that the courtesy invites will show up!
I may even say, if people are XX miles away, they don't get an invite.

Re: Guest List
You're going to have to do an A and B list. Put those people he wants that are not close/may not come on the B list. You can't invite everyone and you can send out the B list invites as soon as you start getting No's. People will never know they're on the B list unless they get a last-minute invite. As long as you send them out far enough in advance, you'll be fine.
