I am adding the names in and realizing we are going to be over what we said was our own max (200) our room can hold 300.
I have put my family in and those friends of moms I have to invite and I have added fh friends. I have to still add my friends but we will be over that 200. We are being nice and letting friends bring a guest.
Help

Re: guest list
We made an excel spreadsheet. First we added everyone that we thought of. We realized that we had more than we wanted to invite. Then we went through each of them thinking about whether we really wanted/had to invite them. If we were not sure we moved them to the b column if we were sure we put them in bold.
One thing we did to help us narrow it down was said if the other never met the person maybe we were not as close with them anymore. Of course their were exceptions to that but it helped us a lot in narrowing down.

We did the same thing. I also have formulas which add the totals up at the bottom of every column.

Re: guest list
I've made it obvious to everyone that I'm DIYing everything so I'm going to try to stick close to my minimum when I send out my initial invities and then whoever says they can't come, I'll fill in with my B's. I figure if I keep saying how hard it is to finish all the invites, maybe the person will never realize they were on the B list.

Re: guest list
we are having the same problem!! our original list was over 300 and then we started getting rid of people.. then we got rid of guests for those who weren't in a serious relationship/living together/engaged...
we are still way too high so we are going through and doing the B list in the summer once things have quieted down a little.
we are banking on 20% rejection, but I'm still freaking out.

Re: guest list
I guaranteed 200 ppl. My list consists of close family members of me and FH's families. Then close friends of ours as well. My B List consists of ppl that are not really family but are kinda close to us that we know might come in case ppl from our A List don't come. Btwn my A and B list I have to have at least 250 ppl. Because I don't want to be under minimum. I would rather be over if anything.

Re: guest list
Our A list is all the immediate family grandparents, aunts, uncles, 1st cousins. FHs father is one of 11 so our aunts and uncles list is huge. He also has 17 1st cousins and many of them are married! We also included friends in this list. Our B list is 2nd cousins and few of our parents friends and some people that we work with. Our min. is 120 and our list right now is about 140.

Re: guest list
we did a draft guestlist when we first got engaged. I think we hit 265 people! A little too ridiculous for me. Our minimum is 175 & I'd like to keep it around that.
I haven't sat down with his mom to go over an A & B list yet. My family is small so our portion of that is about 40 people. lol The rest is FH's family & friends.

Re: guest list
We have a guarantee of 175 people. I am making my A list 250 people. The B list will be people we wanted to invite, but just couldn't. It should consist of maybe 50 people. I'm making the RSVP date at least 6 weeks before so that the B list has 2 weeks to respond.. maybe even more time if possible.

Re: guest list
I have yet to sit down with my parents and my future in laws... but we have a 200 min. and we will prob invite 230.
If anyone RSVP's a NO early (which I doubt will happen), we will invite a B-lister... the only people that will be on that list will be co-workers (mine, Fh's and parents co-workers)
