I just recently did this...its not fun but you will get there! Remember a lot of people will say no...

Every time I'm close someone is like, what about this person, they are 16, shouldn't they be invited. When it's enough, enough?

Just keep your budget in mind. We were set on inviting 200, but after we did our first draft of the guest list we were way over. 260...eek! So we had to sit down and really analyze who should be invited and who shouldn't. Someone told me 'If you haven't seen the person in years and don't speak to them regularly, it's ok to cut them.' I also had to call both parents and ask them to help us cut. It stinks, but I didn't want to blow the bank. We have the list down to 220 and hoping that 20 guests decline. I know it's terrible to say, but it's reality.

If there's some people you are on the fence about, put them on the b list and if guests start to decline once you send out the invitations you could always send the b list invites. Good luck, Kristen.

LOL I say the same thing to myself almost each week. I made a list from the start to see how much I would need to gurantee the hall. I started at 120 and now I'm at 160, with almost 13 months to go . We have a List A and a List B just in case people say No. but we ran into an issue as we want to send out STDs so I'm not sure if I need to send to everyone. Have Fun Finalizing.

We did a rough draft with our families before we even looked at venues. FH and I have HUGE families so we really had to see what we were dealing with. You can't invite EVERYONE to your wedding that you have ever been friends with in your life. I think the best thing is to have a number of people (give or take a few) in mind that you are comfortable with having there whether it be for budget reasons or space reasons at the venue. Stick to that number and it will be a lot easier figuring out who should really be there and who doesn't necessarily have to.

I am so glad to see this topic! I thought it was only me. I had a fight w/ my mom and dad last night because I keep finding out that they invited people to my shower that I don't even have on my guest list!! It's getting out of control. Now it is at the point that I ordered 150 invitations (which is 50 more than I needed) and now I don't have enough and had to buy 30 more.

So stressful. I'm hoping most of these people say no! How horrible is that?

glad i didnt go.
that is soooo rude! but i guess not the bride's fault!

yeah and look at me- still bitching about it 8 years later. LOL!!! anyway they got divorced & she's remarried. no invite to 2nd wedding either

That is so rude and tacky and I don't want people to think that of me, so last night I had a huge fight w/ my parents and demanded they give me the full guest list by saturday morning and then NO MORE.

I cannot believe how difficult the guest list is! Its so stressful wondering who is going to come, who will expect to be invited, who will be wondering WTH we sent an invite.....!

The other side is someone who might get an invite and think 'oh my god they invited ME?!'. I have received 2 wedding invites in the past year and a half that I've thought CRAP! I'm invited?!?!?!

This is what worries me the most! I don't want to leave anyone out, but don't want anyone to feel obligated. AND the hardest thing: I am worried about hurt feelings for me and FH if people we think will come, will decline.
Somedays I think no one will want to come to our wedding..... LOL ummm, no insecurity here.....:)

This has been our biggest nightmare! We still have some time before it needs to be finalized for invitations but we just keep watching it grow and hoping we get everyone. UGH! can't wait 'til it's done.

I was nervous about not meeting my minimum BUT my planner at Flowerfield said she will compensate somehow so we don't loose money...

Like if we are 30 people short...they will throw in an extra service

That's nice of them to do that. FH and I thought we would have a small intimate wedding of about 120 as we have small size family and close friends. We are now at 170. Would I be a horrible person if I crossed my fingers and hoped some people say no.
