Re: Guest List - Best way to...
My list was close to 300, so I started with family (I have the huge Irish family with 30 cousins). I haven't talked to most of my cousins in over a year ... Possibly 5 years, so I decided not to invite most of my cousins because we're talking 60 people with guests. We're only inviting 6 cousins with significant others because I grew up with them, and actually do see them at least once a year. My parents were fine with that because we have had some drama in the past with them, and we're really not that close anymore.
Then with friends we made a list of everyone we wanted to invite when we first got engaged. Over the last 9 months we've been cutting people based on 2 criteria: How often do we keep in touch? Is this someone who I can see being part of my life when I'm older?
Of course certain key people, like childhood friends, who I may not talk to that often, but think I will always keep in touch with are invited, but our acquaintances and drinking buddies have been cut.
Coworkers are out because neither FH or I plan on staying at our companies forever, and both work at large companies with high turnover.
My parents only have a few close friends, so they're not a problem. The only glitch is FH's mom's friends - the list keeps growing, so we're having her prioritize her list and cutting the bottom people (if necessary).
HTH!!!

I told my friends and cousins that unless they are in a serious relationship, they have to fly solo. I feel sooooo mean but I have no choice

Lisa-Our list is at 220-we really only want about 150 but how do you take people off the list? I feel bad-FH wants everyone on the list one minute and the next takes off like 30 people. How is this constructive?

Re: Guest List - Best way to...
We did a list, who we want to come......basically a wish list.
Then slowly went thru from immediate family first-then family that has to be invited.....then closest friends...then friends that we arent AS close to
