Guest List Drama

Guest List Drama

I just got my first stupid question from my friend:
'Hey I know u had down my parents for ur weddin but r u inviting My sister too? I was just thinkin cuz I'm inviting ur parents n Kristen w/guest lol'

What do I say? I'm not friends with her sister and never see her. I never asked her to invite my sister to hers for the very same reason - she did that all on her own and told my sister and parents she was inviting them all already. Honestly, I doubt my sister would even come to hers anyway.
Aaah! What do I say? I've so far ignored it because I was sleeping when she asked.

Yay date twin! I'm getting married on August 17th, 2014 too! If inviting two more guests (her sister and guest) is not something you want to do, maybe you could just let your friend know that you are trying to limit your guest list because of budget considerations. I'm sure she'll understand since she's planning a wedding too. This is always tough, when people expect to be invited. Just try to be tactful and hopefully your friend understands. Good luck!

Ugh, I hate guest list drama. I just feel like if people aren't paying, then they shouldn't be asking who's invited or pushing invites. No pay, no say.

Just tell your friend that you are keeping the guest list down and unfortunately, you cannot invite her sister.

I had this happen to me, and I'm not even close to sending out invites! lo
I know its only 2 more people, but it's the principle, and if everyone you invited asked you to add on 2 people then your list would get crazy! I don't know if your friend is the kind to easily get offended, but yeah like the above says, just say the guest list is finalized there's no room for change, ya had to cut back somewhere, and she should understand (especially shes a soon to be bride herself)

because your wedding isn't until August, I would put them on a 'maybe' list for right now and when it comes time to send invites, if you feel like you don't have the room to fit the people on your maybe list, then you can let your friend know that the group was just too large... I wouldn't send them a STD though, because once you do that you're stuck. There are about 15 people who I didn't send STDs to that I'm keeping on the side just incase we can spare the room for them for wedding invites

If you she was not invited initially than she should not be invited just becauuse your friend is inviting yours. I would be honest and tell her you are limited to guests. I am already dreading sending out my invitations. I already know my best friend and her family will not show and she will ask to invite other guests in replace of...blah, blah, blah. She leaves me hanging in regards of not partaking in my wedding, does not even ask if I was able to get somebody else and then most likely will ask to invite other guests. It is your day sweetie and you should have who you want there. If she is choosing on inviting your sister, that is her wedding and her budget. I don't feel you should have to accomadate.

I would just be honest and flat out tell her no, you did not plan to invite her. If you aren't close with some one, that seat and $$ can be spent on a guest you are closer with and really want to be there.

I would say just that, 'No, I'm not really close with her and would like for our wedding to be intimate' She can't argue with that...It's your wedding! lol

I would just tell her no. You have reached the maximum # for your venue.

Say no! Trust me better to hash this out now than later.

I always say no. People assume a lot of people are invited to your wedding who aren't, so just get comfortable with saying no now. It'll save you a lot of heartache (and money) in the long run.

I would say 'It was nice of you to invite my sister, but unfortunately we don't have room on our guest list to invite your sister. I'm so sorry!'

I had a similar situation and honestly, I'm not about to invite people to my wedding that I barely know when I had to cut some of my own friends that I'm actually close with. I would just simply reply that I'm not sure yet because we haven't made a definite guest list and that I'm waiting until the time gets closer and we can see what our finances are.

Just because someone is inviting your sister to her wedding doesn't mean you have to invite her sister to yours... Especially if you didn't ask for your sister to be invited! I am inviting my FBIL's best friend who is getting married 3 weeks before us and I know we aren't going to be invited to their wedding.. needless to say I'm not hurt in the least bit, less money for me to spend... lol..
