Guest List Help

I want a maximum of 180 people at my wedding. My list is over 200 people. How many should I invite to get 180 ppl?

The hall holds up to 220, but its really cramped with that number...so I'm trying to get the list down...

Its funny, when I started planning I didn't think I'd have enough...now I have WAY too many, and I don't think I ordered enough invites.

I think we have all had this problem - If you invite 200 - More than likely at least 20 will not show up. I would recommend going through your list and doing an A list and a B List - I think it will all work out

I have the same dilemma......and I'm inviting 200 people. I have a few people on the B list too, just in case I fall below 180.

The general rule of thumb is that about 20% will say no.

So if you invite 200, that means 40 people would say no, leaving you with 160 guests at your wedding.

If you invite 220, 44 would say no, leaving you with 176 people at your wedding.

There is no way to guarantee this, however, and some brides have had a verrrrrrry small 'no' percentage, and some have had higher.

I invited 222 and hope I come in around 175 or less.

Seems like the average wedding has 20 people respond no, so you should be fine with the quest list you have.

Thanks ladies..I'm hoping alot of OOT guests decline b/c FBIL's wedding is right before ours...

I don't want to hope too hard for 'No's' cause then I might have too many!!!

This is too much stress- I don't want to play anymore

AW I'm in the same exact situation!!!!! Hall holds 220, want 180. I am sending out invites to 237, with a b-list of 30. The B list will only go out if I fall below 180!!!
