Re: guest list organization
We have 2 lists Our excel has everyones names addresses, number of guests invited, and whether or not they were oot. After the wedding we are going to add what gift they gave us.
We have a second list in word: that list is just how the invitation is going to be addressed.

Re: guest list organization
we used weddingwire.com. Once things are entered you can import them to Excel with whatever info you want in the document or send via email, plus you can set up a wedding website through the account as well and it keeps track of all your appointments and you can check off when you book vendors, when you need to make payments for who etc. and keep track of your budget. Its pretty good and has worked well for us so far. You can also keep track of invites, rsvps, seating charts etc, It basically has it all plus you can log in from any pc so if you are at work or something you can access your stuff. They also have an Iphone app so you can see you appts and so forth.

Re: guest list organization
the knot.com has a good database for organizing addresses. You can also keep track of gifts, rsvps, etc. This is what I'm using and it's working well so far!

Re: guest list organization
We kept everything in one excel file
Name and address A yes/no column with a total on the bottom Then we added a column for gifts and wrote what everyone gave

Re: guest list organization
I have an excel file with about 100 columns lol so I can filter it and look at it different ways.
Salutation, Last Name, First Name, Street, City, State, Number People, Guest?, # Invitations for each party ( Shower, E-Party, Rehersal Dinner, Wedding), gifts, etc.

Re: guest list organization
My FH and I share a google doc spreadsheet. If either of you has gmail you can create the document and then invite the other to be able to view and edit it as well. This way we can both edit it from different locations as we accumulate the addresses for each side. We have a column for name, address, number of guests invited, save the date sent, invite sent and rsvp number for each group. We will probably add a gift column once that time comes too since it can also add our total for us.

Re: guest list organization
I used theweddingchannel.com I kept track of responses and did the seating arrangements on there because I loved that you could situate table how they would be in your room
