GUEST LIST OUT OF CONTROL!!!!!!

Just venting. We decided to draw the line at 350. RH holds about 420 but we def dont wanna pack that many in. List was over 400 and I have managed to get it down to 393 but I still have to knock off more. Going crazy

hahaha....aaaah...sounds SOOO familiar! We ended up just having to hurt some feelings

Whoa!!  Im wondering if FH and I even know 400 people personally, nevermind friends with enough to invite to my wedding. Im impressed!!! 

I still have to show my list to FH's parents. Wish me luck.



Seriously, we had talked about it briefly months ago, and they started saying, oh there are your cousins from Oregon .... I started freaking ... they do not even see these people or talk to them ... and then next time it came up, I casually said how the room holds 156 and the list is at 140 now ... so they know they cannot add too many people and FMIL said she wasn't planning on adding many. I am only showing them their half and it is pretty much half them, half my fam, so hopefully they will see that and not add too many!!!!

Oh i feel the same way... I only have 3 people on my b list i need to really sit down and trim the list.

Pretty much the same exact thing here. And everyone keeps saying 'Oh well they most likely wont come but we should still send an invite' and I'm like 'But what if they DO come' I cannot bank on a hypothetical

Same here...we only invited about 40 friends between the two of us. at first FIL wanted to invite 200 friends (not including his family...with the family, it would be 300)

Well, our room can only fit 340. So basically, we gave him a 50 friend quota, which he was quite upset about. So instead of mailing out 50 invites, he went down his list of 200 calling each person. If the person said yes, the invite went out. If not, no invite, he moved on to the next person.

But since DH is from jersey, i think a lot of his dad's friends thought it was too far to travel all the way to LI. So he ended up with only 30-40 friends attending.

I would have to ask people on the street to ever reach 200+! We were invited to a wedding this summer, and there will be 450 guests!

FH, and I were blown way. We both have VERY small families, (25 total) and we are inviting 90ish friends/co-workers. I feel for you girls...

I totally empathize. I wanted a destination wedding of 50 people and i have 207 people on my LI wedding guest list! LOL!

I 'LOL' now...believe me...we really were not very lovey lovey that week....in the end, we just drew a line in the sand on who is NOT invited...like my second cousins who I haven't seen in 15 yrs (mom wanted to invite them b/c they invited my parents to their wedding), or my FH's former babysitter (his babysitter from like 25 yrs ago!!!)

One thing I'd suggest is to make sure you are both happy with the compromise you make in terms of who gets cut off the list. Otherwise, it might resurface again in the form of an argument after the invites went out. Resentment is never a pretty thing! Especially when worn by a stressed out bride to be (speaking from experience, not trying to lecture)

I'm sure you will both work it out though...if stubborn me and stubborn FH could, anyone can! LOL!
