GUEST LIST OUT OF CONTROL!!!!!!

I thought my list was big! Our hall 'comfortably hold 160 but we can go more thn that but the list is at 191!

Seriously, we had talked about it briefly months ago, and they started saying, oh there are your cousins from Oregon .... I started freaking ... they do not even see these people or talk to them ... and then next time it came up, I casually said how the room holds 156 and the list is at 140 now ... so they know they cannot add too many people and FMIL said she wasn't planning on adding many. I am only showing them their half and it is pretty much half them, half my fam, so hopefully they will see that and not add too many!!!!

Pretty much the same exact thing here. And everyone keeps saying 'Oh well they most likely wont come but we should still send an invite' and I'm like 'But what if they DO come' I cannot bank on a hypothetical

Exactly. I kinda mentioned to FMIL that my parents are only inviting close relatives, and then she said, oh, we won't add a lot then. They are very reasonable people, so I am not too worried, They are paying for our band, though, so I do not want them to feel they cannot invite anyone ... it's a nice chunk of change they are giving us.

i know what you mean...originally we were going to invite about 350 but i had to cut the list a bit...Our minimum is 275 and i would love it to be that many people, dont want to go over 300...although i didn't get my dads full list yet however i put many of them on the list myself since they're close to the family but im sure theres quite a few im forgetting...i just did my guestlist quick, we should really all sit down and do this to figure it out

I would have to ask people on the street to ever reach 200+! We were invited to a wedding this summer, and there will be 450 guests!

FH, and I were blown way. We both have VERY small families, (25 total) and we are inviting 90ish friends/co-workers. I feel for you girls...

it is crazy and i see everyones reaction when i tell them hahahah...but yeah FH has a HUGE family. Last year we had a birthday party for his grandmother when she turned 93. HIs family HAD to do it at a catering hall since there were that many people and couldn't do it in a house...it was family ONLY and there were about 80-90 people and not everyone was able to come, and obviously it was only fh's dads side, not even his moms side ...its crazy for me too to see this bc most of my family is overseas so im not used to it, my family here is small. Although overseas i do have a HUGE family so i can only imagine if they were here what it would be like

i feel the same way, i want to have between 175 and 200, i would rather be near 175.
we made our list, we are at 271

this is actually the task infront of us today! I'm hoping to stay around 150 but I'm not having an A and B list so it will be a few more at first. I feel kinda bad but I cut almost everyone on my mom's side except my aunt and uncle, and all of their kids are in the bridal party, but the rest of them I don't ever see, I met all her cousins and such at my grandfather's wake and they were rude snobs, then they didn't even come to my grandma's wake, which in my book made them even ruder!!! so they were cut. they only reason I feel bad about it is that I am inviting all my dads cousins and such but you can't talk to my grandma with out hearing how they are doing so even though I don't often see them I still know who they are

sorry for being so long... I'm preparing for my day ahead

i know how u feel, we are trying to get the list down to 275 it that has been hard. FH has a b list because his list is so long so after we get nos back we may send another round of invites

I wish I had this problem, I don't have enough ppl on my list...need 150 and so far I only have 120 ... I'm going to end up inviting ppl from work and anyone I can find lol

Would you like me to give you some of my guests??? I bet some of them wouldnt know the difference seeing as I prob have NEVER met them in my life


It feels better knowing tho that I'm not the only one in this situation. FIL's are pretty reasonable, so I know when we sit down together it will work out. I just dont wanna hurt anyones feelings and cause any drama in the family. FH is greek and they usually have pretty big weddings, but my family is pretty big too.
