I'm 100 people over my desired # of guests!!!!!!!!!!
how do i cut ppl out if they are my parents friends/associates and THEY are paying? plus since they're divorced, they dont see eye to eye on who to cut out. dad thinks mom should cut out her partners blah blah blah etc...
how do i approach this touchy subject??

Re: guest list woes
is it 100 over what you want, or what your RH allows?

its 100 over what i want, we are trying to stick to the set budget which we caluculated for 150 people. but the list is about 248 right now. I know a lot of ppl wont come, but 100 nos is a lot to expect.

Re: guest list woes
If you want 150 you should try and cut your list down to 180....I know how hard it is. FH and I are only inviting people (and only asking our parents to invite people) that we know and are somewhat close to. We aren't inviting any distant relatives or friends that we haven't been in touch with. HTH!

Re: guest list woes
How about asking each parent to cut out the same amount of people, like 20 people each? They are paying, but if you phrase it like you are trying to save them money, maybe they will comply. IDK, good luck.

Re: guest list woes
gosh, I wish I had that trouble. You should send your extra guests over to my wedding, I am trying hard to even meet my minimum because most of my family and FH's family come from out of the country!

Re: guest list woes
tell all parents that you don't want to invite anyone who you've only met once or twice in your lives ... also that you don't want to invite their friends, unless you know them and like them lol
good luck!

Re: guest list woes
I agree to ask them both to cut the same amount of ppl. Indicate you prefer it be ppl you and FH do not know. Not only in the spirit of saving money for both you and your parents, but so that you'll be 100% comfortable at your wedding.
