Re: Guest Transportation
I never expect transportation but we are providing it for anyone staying at the hotel. I know we can not afford to do it back and forth from the church to the venue for everyone so we are doing this.

Re: Guest Transportation
As a guest, I NEVER expect transportaion be provided. In most cases (in my experience) if I am staying at the hotel there is usually always a shuttle service provided so I never even think of it. But, if there weren't a shuttle service I would figure out a way to get to and from the hotel myself.
That being said, we are providing transportation both for our hotel guests and for our OOT guest (which is being provided by FIL's for FH's OOT family members). We just want everyone to enjoy themselves and be safe abut getting there and back.

Re: Guest Transportation
I didn't even think about this until just about a month or so ago.. But I don't want my guests who don't know the area well to have to worry about traveling to & from the hotel & worry if they can have a drink or 2 & have to drive.. I have a wedding to go to after mine out of state & I'm hoping ((fingers crossed)) that they have a shuttle available

I made an arrangement with the local cab company to give my guests a slight discount. I just can't afford a shuttle and one is not provided.

Re: Guest Transportation
a lot of our guests do not own cars so we provided transportation for them. they weren't expecting it but were really touched that we thought of them... as a result they were pretty GENEROUS with their gift to us!

Re: Guest Transportation
I also never assume that there will be transportation, although I haven't been to an OOT wedding that hasn't had it. For me, I had to have it, it wasn't an option not to with our amount of OOT guests.

Re: Guest Transportation
I have NEVER heard of a bride and groom providing transportation for guests other than the bridal party and parents.
I will have transportation for my bridal party and parents.
Guests from out of town will have the opportunity to book at our hotel block which will provide free shuttle service to and from the venue.
Do people seriously pay for guests to get to the wedding?? I have never heard of this.. we are having 220+ guests!!

Re: Guest Transportation
As a guest, I do not expect transportation. If I'm staying at the hotel where they blocked rooms, I'm kinda counting on a shuttle though. As a bride, I provided transportation.

Re: Guest Transportation
i really don't know what to do????!!!!!
if everyone were to come that we invited, there will be over 150 people who would need to be provided with transportation (my fiance lives in atlanta and most of our guests are from out of town). shuttle service would be pointless (there is too far a distance from the hotel to the venue to make multiple trips in a timely manner) and the 50 passenger coach buses are so expensive b/c we would need 3 of them - and we never budgeted for THAT much.
i do like the idea of seeing if we can get a discount with some nearby cab companies, though.
just don't want people expecting the transportation and then being caught off-guard that we don't have it.

Re: Guest Transportation
IMHO, if you have a lot of OOT guests, it would be a good gesture that transportation be provided (or at least half-provided by discounted cab rides). they've already done a lot as far as taking time off and spending to get to this part of the world, at least the 'how to get to the wedding' issue is addressed.

Re: Guest Transportation
never expect it, but absolutely love when they offer the shuttle from the hotel or from long distance church locations!
im in Brooklyn and most weddings are in Long Island so is NICE if we can hop in the shuttle from the hotel and not have to worry about who is going to drive home.... but it doesn't make us decide not to go to the wedding.
do what you can afford!!

As a guest, I expect transportation if you are blocking rooms. Therefore, we are getting a coach bus for our guests.

Re: Guest Transportation
I would never exoect it as a guest. As a bride, I'm preparing shuttle service for anyone staying at the hotel (or who have their cars at the hotel).

Re: Guest Transportation
I expect it when one of my friends gets married - we're a big group and we're all drinkers so everyone always does coach buses from the neighborhood to the reception so no one has to drive.
That being said, I will def provide transportation.
I never expect it otherwise.

Re: Guest Transportation
I never expect it, but if you have alot of OOT guests staying at the hotel it would be something to really consider if you can afford it. If not I wouldn't stress it ppl will live, think of how many times you've just had to figure it out, for one day ppl should be able to do the same. How far is the hotel from the ceremony?
