Guest/NO Guest

So FH and I had our first big fight with a guest about this....

Background:
He is FH old school friends father. He is 55 and lost his wife about 2 years ago. He goes to group session to talk about his feelings. He has be pursue by our ladies there and he keep tells us he not ready. His son and his gf will be at the wedding. Also, he knows all the friends of FH that will be there.

Fast Forward:
We see him on Sunday and start talking about the wedding and guest list. We mention that our budget only allows people with someone 6months plus are allow to bring a guest. He goes NUTS!!!! How dare you insult me, I am having mental issues and blah blah...

We try to talk to him and explain to him howhe so negative and he needs to move on (We know it hard) but he living misreably because of these things. He then tells us his son doesn't call him or see him... basically he wanted a pity party and he was barking up the wrong tree. I don't pity anyone because I know people are capable of making things different andif not to learn to deal and coop with whatever life gives you. End of the day, he yelling at me and scareming like I am his child. I turn to him and say ' I am not your daugther nor does my OWN dad speak to me the way you do' I really dont care what you think about our idea for our GL. You come you come you dont... good Fkin riddance

and I walk out of his car.

Now he been giving the jewish guilt trip to FH and he like W T H man.

Just the starts of the drama

In additional, FH has a friend who single and isnt getting a guest for the wedding and his (this 55 nut) replies 'well we all KNOW he wont get a date?' Really nice d bag

thank for listening

So to hear this.
My FH and I have a similar rule with our guests too. It hard when you are on such a tight budget.

Good luck

the entire idea of 'fighting' with a GUEST is ridiculous!!! Doesnt sound like he is mentally stable or considerate of you and FH. Does this person NEED to be invited? Of course not knowing how close FH is with him leads me to ask that, but if he is already creating drama you should consider leaving him off the list.

I know we are all going to face issues with single guests that dont receive a 'plus 1' on the invite, but for him to YELL and carry on like a baby is awful.

Sorry this happened, Michelle.

I dont think you are doing anything wrong. if your budget doesnt allow for everyone to bring guests then it is what it is. We for the most part are having anyone over 18 bring a guest but we are also not having that many ppl so it will be doable - if we couldn't do so I wouldnt feel even remotely bad not inviting guests that we don't even know!!! sorry you had to deal w/ that, his screaming was definitely uncalled for!!!

Honestly it is your wedding you are entitled to invite whoever you want according to your budget- I hate when people act like that. I wanted to do the same thing because FH family is so huge(aunts/ uncles/1st cousins w/1guest each total over a 100 lol) unfortunately they are all married so can't do that The way he is acting if he doesn't come maybe it would be better. Sorry you have to deal with this there is enough stress planning a wedding without added drama

personally if someone has the b@lls to yell at me or fight with me about the wedding they'd be lucky to even get an invite, I definitely would not ask him with a date unless for some reason he get's serious with someone 6 months bf the wedding and I would seriously contemplate not even inviting him, JMO....so sorry you're going through this, what a pain in the a$$!!!

That sucks I'm so sorry about this....We have a little while before we finalize the idea of who gets a guest but I'm not looking forward to all that. ugh.

I told FH we will B list his a$$ just as fast as he YELLED at me

Melissa - He knows FH him for 11 years - time doesnt make a person close but we will see where he winds up

Wow another grown man yelling at you is horrible. I would not invite him to the wedding. If he can admit he is mentally unstable that would be a good enough reason to not want him at your wedding. Who knows what will rock his boat there.
