GUESTS asking about FAVORS???

GUESTS asking about FAVORS???

I don't know if its me. So my mom kept asking me about favors so I told her we were going to probably do a donation. So fast forward a few days and she says ' You know people aren't going to get it, they are going to want something to take home' So I say who are these 'people' these 'wedding ettiquette experts' that you know and she starts naming some of her guests. So I say 'Why are you talking to them about favors anyway?' and here where I get confused, she says 'They asked what your doing for favors?' WHAT!?!?! I'm like a huge green bridezilla right now but Have you ever heard of such a thing? or Would you ever ask in advanced what the favor was?

I guess if I knew them well and was asking about details of planning, I would ask just out of curiosity - kind of like what colors are you having, etc. But to comment is kind of rude. And to be honest, I don't know who would want something to take home. I never know what to do with my favor once I get it home. I leave it on the table (after eating any edible portions while I'm waiting for salad) or if I do take it home, I keep it until i move or am particularly motivated to de-clutter. I think your donation idea is great.

see I get that, like my aunt knows and I'm fine with that. But these were like my mom's friends from work who I've met once like 2 years ago and my mom's supervisor who she is pretty cool with....but why would they ask? I would NEVER do that.

Some people are just so strange! Who really gives a s hit about a favor! Usually its some piece of s hit thing that ends up sitting on my kitchen table until I throw it out. I think a donation is a very considerate idea! Who did you plan on donating to?

ETA: sorry I bugged out a little! All these posts about rude guests are starting to get to me!

Well my daddy is both diabetic and 2 years ago had quadruple bypass surgery and Fh's dad has had 2 strokes so we were thinking the American Heart Association.

That is great! Tell your mom to tell her stupid friends if they want favors to take home they can pay for them!

Apparently not anymore. I dunno about you but when I'm out and someone needs to know my name I am sure to tape my placecard to my head so I can be identified. I think its totally useful.

What?!?! That is so rude. I'm actually a big fan of the donation and FH and I are doing it too. Its such a better thing to spend money on then knick knacks that people will just throw away anyways
