GUESTS asking about FAVORS???

Original post by AugustBridein09

I don't know if its me. So my mom kept asking me about favors so I told her we were going to probably do a donation. So fast forward a few days and she says ' You know people aren't going to get it, they are going to want something to take home' So I say who are these 'people' these 'wedding ettiquette experts' that you know and she starts naming some of her guests. So I say 'Why are you talking to them about favors anyway?' and here where I get confused, she says 'They asked what your doing for favors?' WHAT!?!?! I'm like a huge green bridezilla right now but Have you ever heard of such a thing? or Would you ever ask in advanced what the favor was?

I think if your mom was talking to them about the wedding details and planning... then it makes sense they would ask about the favors. Some people are just cuious to how the planning is going and what's going on with it. So in that sense I can understand it. I can't really see someone asking that to be rude on purpose. It seems an unnatural way to be rude... it's more common they are asking due to curiousity.

It all comes down to. . .why do people need to know every intimate detail about the wedding?!?!?!? Umm, you're going to see every intimate detail in July, so can't you just wait for five months? It's not that far away, so you can exercise some restraint and BE PATIENT. Geez.

Isn't paying $65-90 (or whatever you're paying) for their dinner enough of a 'favor' for them??? Please. Some people aren't happy with ANYTHING.

I cannot WAIT to make a donation to autism and music education advocacy. People don't need another favor, and FH and I would much rather see people who actually need the money get it.

That's really bizarre. I mean, if it came up in an innocuous way like oh how's the planning going, that's one thing, but from your description it doesn't sound like that at all. Just ignore them. It's a generation gap thing. My mother initially didn't like the donation idea either a few weeks ago, but now unfortunately she understands.
