I understand that you don't want children at your wedding, but if it just one family member from out of town and they don't have anyone to watch their child then i would let them bring him/her. I really don't think one kid will make a difference and you will be too busy to even notice.

that's a really hard situation. Not to be so blunt, but it really comes down to what's more important to you, that they come (with their kid) or that there are no kids at the wedding. I don't know how close you are to them...but maybe you could call them and tell them that it is an adult reception and feel them out..who knows maybe they will still be able to get someone to watch their child.
In my honest opinion, i think it's a little unfair to ask someone coming out of state to leave their kid home since they may really want to come but not have a babysitter willing to stay overnight. It's really up to how important it is to you that no children are coming. After all it is your wedding and you have to do what is right for you.
Sorry couldn't be of more help.

This is tacky but I put *this is an adult only affair* on everything from STDs to Invites to the RSVP card so there is no excuse...
Im not much help...
If the child is well behaved and the parents are going to be actively supervising him/her then your wedding should proceed like the child was never there.. GL

Re: guests bringing kids to the wedding!!!!
either you have to let them bring their kids, or accept the fact that they may not be able to come. either way is totally your choice and is ok.. unless you're willing to provide a babysitter which i have seen some brides on here say that they did.

Re: guests bringing kids to the wedding!!!!
I have had a couple of people ask if they can bring their kid.. not out of towners but close family friends who's parents would normally be their baby sisters, who are coming to the wedding as well, and thus have no one gto leave their kids with. Anyway, I basically am a wuss so when they asked if they could bring their kid I just said yes. At the end of the day they are going to have the deal with their kid, I am sure he wont bother me. We may be getting a babysitter to watch the younger kids.. which is primarily our ring boys and flower girl and my nephew as well as our friends son now that they asked and I said yes! BUt if not, its on their parents to watch them.
Unless you are really opposed to having kids, id just go with it and let them bring their kid. Its not worth it in my opinion to take the chance to hurt anyones feelings, or not have people you want there bc of their having to bring kids..but thats totally my opinion. I have to say i was kind of annoyed that they put me in the position and asked..

i have cousins from OOT as well that i think will do the same thing but one leads to another... ya know for me it will be close to 10 OOTG's kids! From no kids to 10! no way! so either they come or dont....
like someone said you have to decide... for me - no kids cause its too many! 1 or 2 ok but thats not my situation!

Re: guests bringing kids to the wedding!!!!
We only had kids from the BP at the wedding & lots of OOT guests with kids...so we hired professional babysitters and had them watch the kids at the hotel which was down the road...we used an agency who was insured & b/g checked the sitters...we also paid for them...HTH

Re: guests bringing kids to the wedding!!!!
I know weddings are generally adult affiars, but i would NEVER go out of town and leave my daughter behind, and i would NEVER leave her with a sitter who i did not know and trust. In the end its up to you, but be prepared that if you say no to their kid they may not come

did you put 'adult' only on your invitation? I would call them and talk to them about it and/or offer some sort of babysitter during the wedding day.

ITA. We had a lot of kids at our wedding 14 of them. and they were ages 2-10 and they were all so well behaved. Everyone thought they were adorable, and they didn't bother anyone.
I doubt you will even know notice they are around. Most people I know will not travel out of state and leave their children behind.
If they already responded that the child is coming, then the child is coming. Although its annoying when people do this, I think it would be more rude to call them up and tell them they aren't welcome if they bring their child...

Re: guests bringing kids to the wedding!!!!
I really think the choice is up to you. It's your big day. I have noticed that when children come to weddings, they sometimes become the focus of attention (especially on the dance floor). For some people, this is fine. Others prefer not to have children. It's unfortunate that you specified 'Mrs. and Mr.' and they didn't choose to call you to clarify!

We are welcoming all kids (8 and older) at our wedding, which is black tie. The boys can't wait to wear a tuxedo! They will look adorable. Our RH gives us a very large discount for kids and we are putting them all at the same table.

We did the same thing. All children/babies of family members were invited. I think it was a total of 9 kids. I knew it wasn't worth getting involved in family tension since I live so close to my family and I would see them regularly.

Re: guests bringing kids to the wedding!!!!
We had people that could not come because they did not have someone to watch the kids. I knew it might happen but we could not afford to invite kids cause it would have added 30 to 40 people and IMO its to hard to draw a line and allow some.
My entire family is OOT and we still decided against inviting kids. You have to make the decision.....allow kids here and there or not have the couple come...

I have people coming from out of state also. I found a baby sitter that will come to the party & sit with the kids while the party is going on. Her name is Liz , her E-Mail is [email protected]

Re: guests bringing kids to the wedding!!!!
Can you hire a babysitter to watch the child at the hotel (or whereever you OOT guests are staying).
If they bring their child, other people might get offended if they could not bring there children.

Re: guests bringing kids to the wedding!!!!
if theres not too many OOT guests with kids and no one to watch them i would let them bring their children..... id rather have my close family and friends with their children come and share that day than none of them at all because i wanted only adults ya know? jmo though
