Guests inviting other guests!!!! RANT

Guests inviting other guests!!!! RANT

So, we're getting RSVPs for our e-party and FH's aunt called to RSVP and asked, 'So, my mother would love to celebrate with you - if you have room please let me know if she can come!' Ummm... did she get an invite??? NO!!!!!!!! What's an appropriate way to tell her no? (We just want our IMMEDIATE FAMILY there, and this aunt isn't blood - she's married to FH's blood uncle so her MOTHER is definitely NOT family!) THANKS ALL!!!!

I'm sorry--that is annoying. However, if she's an older woman, who genuinely wants to see the youngsters celebrate (and if you can swing it), then maybe it's not so bad? I don't know--this stuff gets so complicated, I know how you feel...

First off, I hate people who do this and it only gets worse for the wedding.

My questions are: Are you paying for the e-party? Does FH's mom care about the mom going to the party?

Unfortunately what I learned is 'family is family' even if not related to you....

Talk with FH and FH's mom, that'll be your best bet. GL!!

You have a point, but I guess why FH and I are upset is that she invites her mother EVERYWHERE without asking - like, a movie and dinner night between his parents and said aunt and uncle - she brings her mother! ARGH!

She probably likes to get her mom out of the house.. but just say.. 'I am sorry. We are just having our closest relatives. I appreciate her wanting to be there though'

Well at least she is asking. Some people would have had the nerve to say they are comming and not ask you. I think its perfectly fine for you to say your sorry but there isn't going to be room because of the number restriction.

I am having this SAME issue for my wedding.

My FH's best friend invited HIS inlaws to our wedding.

He sends an email saying 'By the way, Amy's mom [his wife's mom] would love to bless you on your wedding day. Hope that works!'

OMG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

WOw... Thats rude. I would say well they are wlecome to come to the ceremony but unfortunately we are not able to have them at the reception for whatever reason... keeping it small, etc.

GOOD LUCK!!!!

Unfortunately, FH is a pushover when it comes to these things. He'd rather deal with paying a little more than telling his best friend no. And to his best friend's credit, he has done a lot for us over the years so I couldn't say no but I still thought the email was rude. He wasn't asking us, he basically telling us!

Wow this stuff would really annoy me too. Like you said, if a person doesn't get an invitation in the mail, what makes them think that you want them there?!

I just got engaged recently but I have had random people like my blood aunt's relatives by marriage ask my aunt if they will be invited. I think that's rude too. I barely know these people!

WOW ladies! It's unfortunate we all have so much to say about the topic! I'm in limbo still - FH is thinking it over. It's not that big of a deal for his aunt's mom to come to the e-party, but she's not invited to the wedding - my parents are footing the bill for cryin' out loud!! ARGGGGHHHH!!!! I feel like if I give in this time, it'll only get harder to say no later on. There's gotta be some book out there that tells you how to say no to others gracefully!

I would simply say 'sorry, we spent ALOT of time on our invite list, and there isn't room for anyone not on the invite list'
