So after reading all of you guys hitting the gym yesterday, I inquired about a membership by my job. It's $149 down, and $49 a month. This sounds like a lot. So curious what are you guys paying and are you new members or old members, as I know the newer you are the more you tend to pay.

thats ALOT! I signed up at lucille roberts with 2 other girlfriends and we paid $21/month for a 2 year term... that was 2 years ago. They always run specials though.. lucille seems to be one of the most reasonable gyms out there... ballys was alot, nysc was ALOT, curves was alot... I dont know how much private gyms go for though... but 150 down and 50/month is EXPENSIVE, dont do it!

Since its considered a 'super club' they get ya. Its two blocks away so I dont mind.

I joined a local gym near my house - I pay $329 for 15 months so it's about $21/month

Unfortunately not near a Lucille Roberts, this cost is for LA fitness. It has a huge pool, spinning, basketball, handball and the place looks incredible, but most important is they open at 4:30 am. If I don't go in the am, I don't go. anyone else have prices for me. I'm really confuse now.

I had Lucille R. and although it was cheap it def. had drawbacks..like you have to sign up to use the treadmills and ellipticals and can only use them for 30 ins. and the one in Astoria is nassstyyyy.
Now I pay 50 a month and can stay on the machines all I want and it is CLEAN

Yea lucille is cheap and you get what you pay for... I went to the Rockville Centre one and it had d!ck in it... tiny little cardio room with 3 or 4 elipticals, maybe 4 bikes, and a row of maybe 10-15 treadmills.. the strength training room was downstairs and that was ALL they had... no pools etc...
i used to go right before they closed, at like 8, would work out for 1 hour, noone was ever there.... but if u go at 6-7pm youre SCREWED! and supposedly the AM hours were just as busy...

I go to a local gym by my house. I love it bc it's close, only 3 years old and doesn't get a lot of what I call 'scene queens.' It's $199 down and $35 per month.
I used to be a member at The Sports Club LA and was paying $140 month. My company has their own private gym and once my membership at LA Sports was up I joined the gym here at work and pay $50 a month.
I was thinking about joining Synergy at home at one point and they were $250 down and I think $39 a month.

I go to the YMCA. I think I paid a 60 reg fee and now I pay $47 /month.. but it is for my WHOLE family. Unlimited access for me and Rob and all activities for the boys that are age appropriate.

Don't worry - it will go, the longer you are a member.
I joined 2 1/2 years ago during a promotional thing and was paying $69 a month, my last renewal was dropped down to $31 a month.
