I love my doctor. My regular physician sent me to her and she has been great. Completely understandable and has been very good. Now my best friend goes to her and her sister.

Re: Gynocologist... Poll
I go to a group. I started out seeing a woman. When I got pregnant I had to see each of the docs to be familiar with them because you never knew who was going to be on call when I went into labor. I didnt have exams with all of them but the one that wound up delivering Emma was a man. He did so much for me that I go back to him.

I started off seeing woman...but once I got pregnant, I switched to my current OB/GYN and *love* him! He really is great and to be honest, it doesn't bother me that he is a guy. I think as long as a Dr remains professional, it wouldn't bother me what gender they were. I guess I kind of do have the philosphy that 'seen one, seen most all!'

THANKS FOR THE SUPPORT, THAT DAY I WAS IN SHOCK AND JUST LAUGHED NERVOUSLY, WHEN I GOT HOME I WAS VERY ANGRY, WHEN I SWITCHED MY NEW DOC WHO I LOVE TOLD ME SHE HAD HEARD VERY SIMULAR STORIES ABOUT MALE DOCS, i DON'T HAVE A PROBLEM WITH MALE DOCS, JUST GIVEN MY EXPERIENCE PREFER FEMALES....

I don't mind a male, but I have gone to a woman for the past 10 years and she is DA BOMB, so I'll never give her up
wino: No one should have to go through that

Had bad experiences with a woman gyn (maybe because it was my first time to a gyn in general) and I have found males to be quicker and more compassionate than women because they have no idea what this all feels like (I am sure an argument as to why women DON'T go to males because of that statement as well).

I tend to feel that this is true as well, generally speaking. MOST of the men I have seen try extra hard to be understanding and sympathetic because they DON'T know how we feel. Many of the women I've seen have had a 'It happens to all of us... Get over it' attitude.

Thanks girls. :) You all made a good point, that gender shouldn't matter as long as they are good! I think I will stay with a male doctor, its what I am used to.
Thanks for responding.

JennRenee: I found that the women drs also have the same attitude like you said. I feel more comfortable with a male dr. They seem more sympathetic to what we may be going through.

Re: Gynocologist... Poll
for years i went to a very large south shore practice where i generally saw women. i hated feeling like just a number, so i switched to a 2 male practice and love them both!!! male or female - i don't care - just spend some time with me asking my questions and calming my fears.

I went to a woman for many years and ended up getting fed up with her office and Now I go to a man and love the office/him/ his associates! i never thought I'd go to a man. His office is much busier than the woman I used to go to. Now, I don't see the big deal about a man.
