I didn't reply to either, b/c I don't care one way or another... I would prefer a woman, but if a good doctor is a man, its no problem

Re: Gynocologist... Poll
I have been to 2 woman doctors so far. I am going to see another woman doctor in January. I feel uncomfortable having a man doctor.

Re: Gynocologist... Poll
I am like Michele31 no male doctors for me. I am very private about my body, especially from the waste down.

Now I have a male and love him, he is so compassionate and when I was prego he was so cautious with everything.

I go to a woman now. I used to go to a man, but i like going to the woman even better, I feel like when I talk to her about things that are bothering me I know she understands what i am talking about being that she is a woman and has experienced these things to.
does that make sence? I am not sure if I was wording it the right way.

Re: Gynocologist... Poll
It doesn't matter to me as long as the dr. is a good doctor.
I currently go to a man, and he's the best gyn. I've ever had. I am completely comfortable with him ~ more so than I've ever been with a woman gyn, strange as that may seem.

Re: Gynocologist... Poll
Ive gone to, and still go to both men and women. It really doesnt phase me either way. I Think when I was younger (and before going through labor, and BFing pains, LOL) I was a bit more self conscious about a man seeing me either boobs or below, lol), but at this point, its more important that theyre a good Dr.
Every male Dr Ive seen has been respectful, knowledgeable and wonderful.
Of course I can also see what Suzanne is saying about a woman understanding and 'feeling' for certain issues more than a man, since she has been there. and for that reason I like to still see women also. Theres always that connection.

I've always had a male ob/gyn (no preference, it just happened that way). I think he is a wonderful doctor, and have stuck with him for 8 years and will continue to go to him.

I go to a woman...She's a nurse practioner
ETA: My previous gyno was a man in the same office as the nurse practioner I go to now. The only reason I switched to the nurse practioner was b/c I waited hours in the waiting room for his appointments. For the nurse practioner, I'm in and out w/in 1/2 hr.

Re: Gynocologist... Poll
I went to a man first, and then i went to a woman for a second opinion, because I thought maybe he could not understand my needs, since he was not a woman. And the woman i went to was horrible, she told me, sometimes you have to just deal with these things, as a woman. Adn was so uncaring and at times harsh, she called me a woose, becasue I was scared t ahve blood work done, because I ahd a horrible experience when i was younger. I went back to the Male Dr, and followed his treatment ideas, and I was fined.

Re: Gynocologist... Poll
I recently switched from the doctor I had had for the last 28 years. He was getting old and was semi-retired. On the recommendation of my regular doctor I now have a new much younger female doctor who I love. It took me 3 months to get my initial appointment with her, but we spent the whole 45 minute appointment laughing. I was at ease with her right away. What a huge difference! I would not go to a male gyno again. My regular doctor is female also.

My gynecologist is a female, after my male MD told me I had nice tan lines while I was in stirrups...

I go to a female and happen to think she is great, before I found her though I went to another female who was NOT great at all. What counts most in my eyes is how good the doctor is and whether or not I feel comfortable with him/her and trust him/her. Gender is not that important!
