Where are you and FI thinking of going for your Honeymoon? Does this place have any special meaning to you? Are you going right after the wedding or waiting a while?

FH and I are thinking of going to the French Polynesian islands. This place doesn't have any special meaning to us but it seems like the most romantic place for us to spend our honeymoon. Ideally, we would like to go on our honeymoon right after the wedding, but we may have to wait a few weeks. French Polynesia can be VERY expensive, so we're thinking of going on a small luxury cruise (holds about 300 people so it's a very small). Since we are going on a cruise, we have to go by the cruiseline's schedule to see when we can take our honeymoon. The schedule isn't out yet, but I reallllllly hope that we will be able to take our cruise within a week of getting married. The cruise goes to various islands in FP, and some of the longer itineraries go to the Cook Islands and Fiji along with FP. The cruise includes all food and drinks (including alcohol), which can be VERY expensive in FP so this will save us a ton of money. The cruise also includes some excursions (like a beach bbq day on a private motu and also wind surfing/kayaking off the back of the ship when it's tendered). Also, they seem to frequently run promotions which include either 2 for 1 airfare or free roundtrip airfare for 2 from LA to Tahiti, which can also save us a ton of money. Therefore, if FH and I want to do FP, this seems like the way we will have to go in order to make it affordable. We do want to try to spend at least one night pre-cruise in one of those overwater bungalows because they look so romantic!!!
well we are not planning on going on the actual HM until Nov of 2011 but we will most likely be doing a 'mini-moon' which is also the family's yearly cruise the week right after the wedding. If we do this we will be leaving the day after the wedding.
For our actual HM in November, we will be returning to Couples Swept Away resort in Negril, Jamaica!!!! God I can't wait! We went there last Nov and it was the best vacation !!
Me too!!!! It's so expensive though....so FH and I really need to figure out if it is even do-able for us. I really hope it is!!!! It would be our dream honeymoon.

Does this place have any special meaning to you? I would like to do something amazing for the HM, a vacation that would stick out as being far superior from other future vacations. Plus, I think these locations are amazingly gorgeous and soooo romantic!
Are you going right after the wedding or waiting a while? We are going right after the wedding. This is why we're waiting til 2011. FH's school schedule will be a lot more flexible and he will hopefully have the whole month of Dec off, so ideally, we will leave a few days after the wedding! Waiting til 2011 su cks, but this will make it worth the wait!!!

We're REALLY leaning towards Italy. Rome for a few days and then Capri!
We figure this will be the only time in our lives we can justify: a) taking two weeks off for a trip b) spending so much money
I really wish it didn't cost so much, but then again I would LOVE to go.

We were just talking about this last night. Right now we have ideas for French Polynesia, Hawaii and St. Lucia. Online we saw the most AMAZING hotel in St. Lucia...just have to do a little more research first then make the decisions.
We're thinking of going a couple weeks after the wedding...giving us time to relax and get stuff together.

FH and I can't go on a real honeymoon till april and our wedding is in Jan. I think since we need to save out on $ (loans up to wazoo!) we are going to go to Vieques, an isle off Puerto Rico for a week and then spend a 2nd week in PR mainland near his family. In January right after the wedding we are thinking of going up to Vermont to a nice ski lodge or spend a few nights at Mt. Washington Hotel in NH.

We aren't sure where yet.. we were thinking somewhere in the Caribbean. Our fall back (if we can't figure out something else) will be dominican republic (I've been there, FH has not).
We just want to sit on the beach for 7-10 days and relax.
