H-Moon... which would you do....

H-Moon... which would you do....

1. Cruise to : Puerto Rico, St. Maarten, Antigua, St. Kitts, St. Lucia, Barbados, Venezuela, Curacao and Aruba. Total cost would be no more than 4500 (incl. excursions, etc.)

PRO: Great price, see lots of islands, and I can eat to my heart's content (and i mean a LOT of carbohydrates), ETA: never been on a cruise.

CON: Extrememly small cabin...but it's an oceanview.

2. Hawaii: 5 nights in Oahu, 6 nights in Maui - cost is approx. 2,000-2,500 higher than the cruise.

PRO: It's our honeymoon and the expenses will come AFTER the wedding, so we can afford it THEN. Umm, it's Hawaii.

CON: A lot of money. Never had a true desire to see Hawaii until now. I just got a passport and won't need it (ok, that one is a stretch).

What would you do?

Cruise!!!!!!!!!! (if you've never been on one)
And your never in your room anyway!
And its a short flight! That flight to Hawaii is a doozie!

You know my choice...

CRUISE!!!!!!

This is going to be our fourth & we would not have done it any other way! For us, to waste away so much $$ on a week, was not worth it to us to go to Hawaii (don't really have a desire)...We are doing 10 days on our cruise for less then $4K!!

Cabins: Don't worry about size, our 1st cruise I was on the Pacific Princess 'Original Love Boat' The cabin was so small, that our luggage took up the entire room! The room was only 146 sq feet!!! That did not turn us off from cruising!!! You spend only sleeping & times in the room! Otherwise, you are in the casino, eating, pool, eating, dancing or & did I mention eating

Cruise...Even though I never been on one as well...I never heard anyone who's been on one say anything but positive things regarding their trips...

but lets face both choices are great...esp when you look out your window right now...

I went to a lot of the islands you listed on a cruise last year and they are beautiful. I've heard Hawaii is beautiful as well (that's where we're thinking of going). My other choice was Barbados, it's beautiful.

I think, I would look into more pros and cons of each, like flight length, possibly having to eat dinner with the same people every night, etc, cost, etc.

Are cruises romantic? That's my issue... I feel like, we won't have a romantic meal sitting with two 55 year old couples who hate eachother.

Flight to PR is 5 hours
Flight to Hawaii is 10 hours

I would do Hawaii...I have heard that the cruises are not truly all inclusive and if you need bottled water or liquor you will have a huge bill. Plus there are so many people on the boat, not really secluded. DH and I are huge drinkers (and eaters) so a cruise, or anywhere that made us pay per drink, was a no go.

Plus, you can always cruise later with kids...Hawaii is a LONG flight...better to go pre-baby.

Very romantic!! What cruise line is it??? You can always request to do a table of 4 or even 2! I know a lot of HM'ers that were sitting at tables for 2! We met lots of young people on all of our cruises!

I love cruises except for one thing. The pool on board is a salt water pool. I hated that and that has been the prinicpal reason we didn't go again.

Also, they do announcements at like 7 am or earlier telling you where you are...it's annoying.

I say Hawaii!

I've always wanted to see Hawaii so I'd def do that!! I've also never been on a cruise and we thought about that for the HM but then decided against it. I don't want to have to leave bc that's when the boat is leaving, I like having our freedom. A cruise would be ok otherwise but we didn't want that for our HM. HTH!!

The romantic thing about cruises are the ports you dock in. Instead of doing excursions with the other cruise guests, grab a taxi, and go off on your own to the beaches and chill on the sand together. Thats what we do.

I'm going to Hawaii, so I'm all Aloha here!

Definite difference there.

Why don't you look into a cruise of Hawaii!!! That way you get the best of both.

you do have to pay for your drinks, but of course, i'd have to do that in hawaii...so that's not a big deal.

not sure about kiddies, but thanks for the advice.

I'd go for the cruise. Everything is right there for you whenever you need it. Those destinations are great and I think the weather is beautiful at that time too. just double check. Also how long are you going to be gone for? You may not want to be on a boat for long time.

Re: H-Moon... which would you do....

In regards to the drinks & what not on the cruise...You will always incur extras anywhere you go unless it is inclusive...

We did a week cruise & spend $1K between the two of us on drinks, bingo, 2 excursions, professional pictures...Most cruises have a value card (pay one price, one time) for soda & you carry the cup & it is free the rest of the trip!

But you spend whatever you want on the extras!!!! They run specials on drinks & they are like $2!!!
