Had/Been to Extended Cocktail Reception Style Wedding?

Hi!!! Just starting to plan and we are really interested in having an extended cocktail reception (no sit down dinner). Looking for venues, has anyone done this or been to one? Where? What did you think?

Thanks!

most will do it that's what we are doing!
some have separate menus others will have u choose from cocktail hour menu and add a few things to it for u.
places like jericho terrace, floral terrace, Westbury manor and thatched cottage where they are known for crazy cocktail hours and excellent food ( even offer 2nd helpings at a sit down) they don't offer it! floral terrace is the only one I didn't go to but I did check out the other 3 they def dont!
if you have any places in mind let me know I can tell u if they will do it or not at least for ya! I must have looked at 30+ places between. emails and phones and driving all over li!!

spelling sorry

I went to one at Flowerfield years ago. It was fun, food was great, and there was plenty of it. I will say though, it got old. By the third time a station opened, we were like ehh, Im kind of full, dont feel like getting up/stop dancing to go get tacos (a station I remember). I consider myself a major foodie too, but I do remember this. Theres something about being squeezed into tight chairs in a dress and spanx that makes you not want to keep getting up.

Just wanted to give you a completely honest answer. Even after knowing this I considered it, because lets face it, cocktail hour has the best food of the whole night! I think its totally up to your personal preference and what you think your guests will think.

Thanks for the feedback! We are not interested in having a traditional wedding so that is why we are going this route! Right now we are thinking about The View in Oakdale as well as Land's End. I would love to hear more suggestions if you have any!
