Had final meeting with the band and he SUGGESTED OTHERWISE to all FH's ideas - UPDATE!!!

Bryan wanted the bridal party to walk into Lupe Fiasco's Superstar and us to walk into I Wonder by Kanye ... our band said those songs arent upbeat enough (FH was annoyed - he hates club music) ..

So now .. I NEED HELLPPPPP PLEASSEEEE

WHAT SHOULD WE WALK INTO?

I said maybe we can get a song we love and have it like a club mix (band okay'd this and suggested that we use Coldplay's Clocks (love it) and they would do it like an upbeat version .. so we may walk into that ..

any other suggestions??? TIA!!!!

THIS IS WHAT YOU SHOULD DO....

tell your band to suckk it. those are the songs you want, and those are the songs you're coming out to. no one said they HAVE to be fast or clubby. do what you want! it's your wedding, not theirs!

More of the story .. Bryan wanted them to play these songs on an ipod instead of having the band play them.

When I asked well why dont they just play the songs, Bryan wanted the original and then the band said they dont know those songs...

SUKCS.

Wait, what is wrong with the band using their experience to give some advice to them? I mean look, OBVIOUSLY you can do whatever you want, but my feeling is that if you get advice from a professional you should at least understand what their point is.

My wife and I definitely had some ideas that the DJ thought weren't the best, and in the end he was absolutely right.

Those songs are a little awkward to walk into based on the pacing. Something faster just works better. Why not a 70's song like stayin alive, or a 50's song like rock around the clock?

I hate those songs but I did agree with the band saying that maybe those are a bit slow to come into to .. So now Im trying to find a song we love and they said they can put it with a drum beat that would make it upbeat .. like the clocks example ...

yeah I dont mind changing, Bryan is now saying whatever but I told him if he wanted specific songs like that we shouldnt have spent a ridiculous amount of money on a sick band and shouldve just hired a DJ .

what if they're played from the ipod and they also play an istrument to accompany the song?

I'm going to reach out to the other side for this one and say that, while they could have approached it in a nicer manner, the band does this all the time and they probably know well what works and what doesn't. What you guys come in to is important as a party starter and if the songs don't get the crowd going it's not the best way to kick off the reception. It depends on your style of music what would work, so i could make suggestions but they may not be right for you. At the end of the day, you have to stay true to what you like, but try take the band's suggestion as an experienced one.

eta: That said, once you make your decision they should be willing to learn it or work with you to make it happen some other way.
