I am trying my hardest to keep calm about this and it is not easy! I got my dress at Bridal Suite in Centereach. I ordered it in November and it came in right away. Lke less than two months later. I have been calling them for the last two or three months trying to get in there to get fitted and they kept telling me 'You have time blah, blah, blah'
So I go in yesterday and I put the dress on and the entire top is loose on me. Now this is a corsetted dress(same exact one as StayandJohn) and should fit pretty snugly on top. At least that is how I want it to fit. The seamstress wanted no part of taking in the top. She was only interested in heming the dress and getting the bussle(sp) done. She said if I want it tighter I can lace it tighter. But I cannot lace it any tighter without loosing the corsette effect.
So, I talk to another lady who is helping me get dressed and she says next time(meaning my second fitting) just tell her that you want to take it in and if she doesn't listen she will tell her.
I thought the first fitting was to get all alterations out of the way and just do minor ones on the second fitting. My next appointment is not until august 16th and that is less than a month away from the wedding.
Am I wrong here???? Is the pressure just getting to me?? Because I feel like they were nice as pie when I was picking out the dress to make a sale and now they could care less how the dress fits.
Sorry.....just needed to get that off of my chest!!

tell that CROTCH that she HAS to fix it the way YOU want and if she doesn't want to, say you are NOT leaving until she does!!!!!
#$@%#@%$# makes me so mad to hear when dress places are mean to us@@@@

I hear ya! You feel like they 'Yes' you to death just to calm your nerves.
Can you make an earlier appointment for your 2nd fitting? Then I would make sure they do the adjustments as you asked. If you're afraid to be pushy and open your mouth...bring a friend or family member who will get pushy! (that's what I do. )

Am I wrong, but arent YOU the one wearing the dress? The nerve of these people! I would call them and tell them that if they dont fit it to the way YOU want it, than you are taking it elsewhere for alterations. Even if it costs you a lot more to have it altered elsewhere, at least you will have it the way YOU want it! Good luck!

Re: Had my first fitting....VENT
I JUST had the same experience with the seamstress, she did not want to hear my opinions on MY dress. I have a corset back too. You could lace the corset how you want it to look and they can take in the sides, that is what the 2nd seamstress I went to is doing. These woman need to knock it off, maybe that's why 'stress' is in their title because they could definitely stress a bride out. Also she said my b**bs were too big for this dress! well someone should have told me that when I ordered it. I'm a D and can't do anything about it now, the wedding is in 3 weeks!

I also got my dress from Bridal Suite Centerreach, as did my BMs and FMIL. There is more than one seamstress there- if you are not happy ask to see someone else, or ask to speak to John, the owner. He is very accomodating.

Re: Had my first fitting....VENT
I'd speak to the owner or manager of the store BEFORE my next fitting to make sure I either got a different seamstress or this 1 gets an attitude adjustment. Good luck don't let her tell you how to fit your dress on you!

I too went yesterday and had a wonderful lady...I want to say her name was Kathy. She was very helpful and did exactly what I wanted. I would call and ask to meet with someone else!

Don't take any pooh from these people!!! You spent a lot of money on your dress and you want it the way you want it! If you make a stink maybe they will do your alterations sooner. Turn into a brideziller if need be! But if they don't budge take your dress somewhere else to get fitted!! Good Luck!

Re: Had my first fitting....VENT
Vickalina- So sorry you are going through stress about your wedding gown - DEMAND that they fix it to your liking - you are the bride and for all the money you are spending, their attitude is completely unacceptable. If worse comes to worse, make a HUGE scene in there when the store is crowded. I'm certain they'll help you then!

Re: Had my first fitting....VENT
At my first fitting, they only took up the bottom on my dress. Then, at the second fitting, they took in the top. Maybe that's what they are doing.

Re: Had my first fitting....VENT
I am really down to the wire as far as time goes and my dress is still being altered.....I am about 90% sure that it will still be too big when I try it on!! The people doing the altering did not want to take it in in the first place and I feel like they are not listening to me. They called the house the other day and left me a message to tell me they normally do not alter these type of dresses.
My question is ---What do I do on such short notice as far as finding another alterer and How do I handle everything with the place I purchased the dress from???
I was tough with these people and they are about to send me over the edge! I cannot think of anything else to do except pull my dress out of there. My next fitting is Sept 4th......9 days before the wedding!!
you are absolutely right, that is so completey wrong. i would be feeling the same way you are right now if that happened to me. I would demand some service. you are the customer. i hate people like that-i really do

Re: Had my first fitting....VENT(UPDATED)
Hi Vickalina!
We have the same wedding date! AND I got my dress at Bridal Suite of Centereach ! Kathy was my seamstress and she was great except that they charged me an arm and a leg for alterations and I was so ****ed! I had my last fitting last week and I am picking up my dress the 11th.
They should really have you all done by now. How can your last fitting be the 9th? Are they crazy?? Once they finish the fitting and it fits you correctly they have to press it. How will they have time to do that? If you are not happy just go pick it up now and bring it to a seamstress. I don't know if this helps but there is a dry cleaner/taliorer on Middle Country Rd. in Centereach that I bring my FI's dry cleaning too. There is a seamstress in the back and I ALWAYS see dresses hanging that are wrapped in the white 'Bridal Suite of Centereach' bags. I asked her once and she told me a lot of brides buy their dresses there and then bring them to her to alter because it is so expensive there. I was so ****ed I didn't find out sooner because I paid soooo much for my alterations!
