Had my level 2 sono tonight!

Had my level 2 sono tonight!

.. and since I don't have my computer right now (it's getting upgraded and I am using DH's), I can't scan the pictures. I promise to post them as soon as I can, they really are cool to see, even if baby was camera shy!

But I will say it was an amazing experience to see our baby. It's just been the past week or two that I have felt the baby move. It certainly is a weird feeling, nothing at all like I had imagined it would feel. But now I know it's using it's legs to torment my bladder.

All the way there, with my bladder full (oh my!), baby was doing jumping jacks on my bladder. I thought I would explode! Thankfully the technician let me relieve myself after she got the pictures of the cervix and placenta and then she continued on.

The baby is in the breech position and has it's back facing my belly. So we got great shots of the spine, but very few of the face We were able to get a profile picture , and could clearly see the hand up near its forehead. At one point we swore it was waving at us.

Although my doc will go over everything with me at my appointment tomorrow night, the technician did say everything looked perfect. She pointed out its stomach and kidneys too.

At my half way point, my excitment doubles each day. We look forward now to registering, doing the nursery and awaiting the arrival of our little baby!

Again, I'll post the sono pictures as soon as I can scan them. One of them is just so funny. I kid you now when I say it looks like an alien. BUt I love it anyway! Thanks for letting me share.

ETA:

The baby is approximately 12 ounces, 6.5 inches and is still scheduled to arrive on May 26th (one day off from the 25th which was our original date)

That's wonderful.

I never had to drink water for any of my sono's (what a relief) In fact they always made me empty my bladder first I wonder why some make you drink water and others don't

Oh I hear you on that full bladder!!! It was HORRIBLE!!! I couldn't walk because it was so full!! And then they had the nerve to tell me it was TOO full and I had to go pee!!!

Trish, I am so excited for you!!! Isn't that sono SO exciting?? Where did you have it done? I had mine at Nassau Radiological Group and the people were SO nice! The whole experience was like a party!

As for the full bladder, I remember that too well! I was so miserable that they told me to try to go a little bit to relieve the pressure. Um... hello?! Once I start, I'll NEVER be able to stop! I'll be like trying to hold back a tidal wave!!!

I can't wait to see pictures!

Re: Had my level 2 sono tonight!

Jenn - I had the sono done at Metropolitan Diagnostics on Franklin Avenue in Garden City. The woman who did it was so nice and was making us laugh and shared her experiences with us.

The whole full bladder thing is so that they can see the cervix and placenta . It was so full and I was in pain and couldn't walk straight, and if they hadn't let me relieve myself the first time, the first push on my belly would have resulted in an embarrassing tidal wave of pee on the table!!

I wonder how much the baldder can hold? I had to pee so many times last night it was crazy. But the experience was worth it all.

ARE you finding out the sex? of the baby

Re: Had my level 2 sono tonight!

Congrats. I am baffled as to how they change things from one day to the next by a sono

Re: Had my level 2 sono tonight!

Tammy - we were driving there last night and were discussing it. We had said all along we wanted it to be a surprise. But for a fleeting moment, we thought we would find out and just keep it to ourselves and not tell anyone. Well, we quickly nixed that idea, because I know how good I am at keeping secrets, and I would be too tempted to shop for the baby's sex and would eventually give it away.

So, no, the baby's sex will be a surprise for us!

Congrats! That must be so exciting!

Are the sonograms normally 'level 2' at this stage? Or was this one more complex? Just curious
