ok so tonight was my second fitting. the dress fit much better and needed to be taken in a little more but looked good.

however...my mom was with me and when we left she was like asking me to be honest how i feel about the dress bc she doesnt get the feeling i love it. Shes right...i mean i like the dress a lot and its beautiful, but i guess i never 'loved' it...i have just been trying to convince myself i love it.

sooo i dont know what to do. I mean with less than 38 days to go she said she would do whatever i wanted....If i want to go looking for gowns off the rack that could be altered in time she will do it. But i dont know if its worth it...i dont even know what I'd be looking for.

ahhh what should i do?! just wear the dress and accept that im not IN love with it? or go CRAZY trying to find a new gown and have it altered in like a month?

you could also check out sites like preownedweddingdresses.com or oncewed.com for a new or used dress. they offer really large discounts on some amazing dresses.

Like other girls said, I would absolutely go look...but only at sample dresses that I would be able to buy and alter in the time between now and the wedding.

On Say Yes to the Dress I remember they had a girl come in a week before her wedding and they found her a dress...it can be done!!

I would keep looking. If you could buy a sample off the rack that would be great. But from what I remember, most of the samples were pretty big and you're tiny...do you think they'd be able to take them in that much?

Try calling some dress places and ask if they have dresses in your size/close to your size you can buy off the rack.

your dress is beautiful and the day of you'll look absolutely stunning. just remember why you picked it out in the first place!!! honestly if it were me, i would not stress over trying to find a dress at the last minute... you have enough going on! thats JMO though.

im actually getting nervous about this too. i haven't seen my dress since Sept and i keep forgetting that i loved it when i first bought it after seeing all the pretty dresses you girls post! i have my first fitting this weekend so im hoping i get the feeling back.

but i think you should just keep the dress. if it was me, i know i would be so stressed out trying to find a new dress and i wouldnt want that added stress at this point in the wedding planning. maybe you can add something to the dress so that you like it more?? im sure you're gonna look gorgeous no matter what though!

having being in your exact position, i completely understand. the best thing i did was finally admit to myself that i didnt love my dress and look for a new one. it was however extremely stressful (if you remember i had a hundred posts where i was broken down and crying). there was a dress i fell in love with but they couldnt get it in, in time. the difference with you i think though is that you wouldnt even be asking them to order a dress for you because at this point, i have to say, most designers wont be able to ship a dress in time for you to have it for alterations HOWEVER you can find a sample which is what happened for me and for me it was harder because im not typical 'sample' size. but if you fit into a lot of samples, then you can definately find a brand new sample that they just got in and get that one and have it altered...even if its slightly small, they can add a corset or take it out a tad.

i found mine at centereach bridal but stores are getting in brand new samples all the time...call first and tell them your situation and ask them if they are willing to sell brnad new samples and if they have some in stock.

You really have to LOVE your dress. You should go look, there's plenty of dresses you would be able to get altered in time.

But first ... Is there anything specific about your dress that perhaps they can change to make you like it?

You are getting some great advice here.

Try to relax (easier said than done, I know)
You are going to make a beautiful bride no matter what you wear....really. Even if you don't love your dress right now, when you look at your FH for the first time, you will be glowing and any doubts you had about your dress will be gone. Trust me!!

If you need peace of mind I would just say to pick two places and see if those places have samples to purchase. Don't stress too much more over this. Really.

That's a tough one. I don't think at this point that I'd be able to go and try to find a new dress. I couldn't handle the stress.

thanks girls! i really appreciate all the kind words and the advice. you ladies are the best.

Gina has kindly agreed to go dress shopping with me. I am going to check out a few places on Saturday to see if they carry samples and if I find something great but I am not going to stress out over it....

Kelley - your dress is gorgeous, but if you aren't in love with it there's no harm in looking. If you can't find a gown in 38 days, what about just getting a fun second dress for the reception? That might be easy to do! If you are interested, Priscilla of Boston has a lot of fun bm dresses that can be ordered in ivory and I think they'd be able to rush one in . . . GL and keep us posted!

There was another girl who didn't love her dress (i don't remember who it was though - sorry) ... she liked it but didn't LOVE it. But rather than buying a new dress, she just bought a full crinoline and it made her dress look completly different ... at that point, she loved it. maybe you could try that?

if that doesn't work, then go look at samples only

Honeslty - I think you should look but only look at samples that you will be able to alter.
