Had my shower today...

...and I was surprised. I thought it was today at 3:00 at my mother's apt complex but it was at 12:30 at a restaurant. Such an elaborate plan. My fiance & I were going to the gym and we saw his brother broken down right before we got there. Supposedly his wife was inside the nearby restaurant changing the baby and it was my shower. I was really suprised, overwhelmed too. My fi is such a cutie, he packed me a bag of clothes to change into-even a necklace & earrings and some make up. Anyway, it was so nice. I got all but 1 of my place settings, my 4 sis in laws to be got us our entire luggage set and there were so many more gifts. I just can't say enough about how wonderful everyone was - it was so weird being the center of attention like that but I guess it's preparation for the wedding day. Our living room is filled with gifts. My mother in law to be has Alzheimers and the gift they purchased from her was a Beleek bride & groom cake topper, I opened it and I started crying. I am just so glad I got to know her some before she got as bad as she is now but she is such a beautiful woman, when I first met my fiance he spoke about helping care for his mother and he had such love, compassion and patience, it was one of the first things I fell in love with about him. What a day! Thanks everyone for listening and being here to share this with. Despite some of the insanity on this board, I have enjoyed it very much.
I couldnt agree with you anymore. When I first came here I thought it was such a wonderful site. I received so much help and support with my wedding. I'm tired of all the complaining, etc.

I only 'knew' it was Sat because there have a few family and friend events this year so far - my niece's christening was one weekend, my MOH got married one weekend and then was still on her honeymoon the next. Then my fiance & his sister will be in Ireland next weekend so this seemed like the likely weekend. Then my mother kept mentioning Sat afternoon that she needed my help with something. I kept saying to my fiance that she is so obvious. Yes, the laugh was on me. Good for them!! They were very pleased with themselves. They are so wonderful to go through so much trouble.
The theme sounds so creative and fun, it's so nice that your fiance also got his gifts.

Thanks. Our wedding is March 17th. 40 days! I have my first fitting next Saturday and we are going for a food sampling at the Milleridge that day. Then the next weekend we will finalize the menu. I have a lot of odds & ends to do now. Gifts for MOH & BM, find a make up person, pick music & pictures for videographer, coordinate lots of things. We are going today to try to find a ring for my fiance at Tri County flea market.
Our responses are coming in pretty steady, averaging about 4 a day - 48 yes's and 9 no's, it's fun to get them in the mail, my fiance is enjoying that part too.
